    Welcome

HICAS is the 4 wheel steering the Zed has (TT).

Im assuming your refering to the Lock bar?

Many people lock the HICAS so the rear wheels are fixed with a lock bar. This also allows elimination of the HICAS compnants from within the Engine bay (unless it's electric hicas) and weight reduction.

    That's all i know.

if its electric HICAS, maybe there is a Lock button? (I wouldn't know)

Some more info as to where you have seen "hicas lock" may help.

yes hicas is your 4 wheel steer so that the rear wheels turn. locking your hicas is used for when you want to do motor sport and that sort of thing. have a good one, stu

i also thought it could be used if your hicas has broken, hence you can simply lock it out rather than replace expensive parts

Locking HICAS is done for a more predictable feel in the rear when traction is lost. Or it can be done to save weight if you ditch all the components associated with it.

For grip driving and highway manuvures, HICAS is your friend! :zlove:

HICAS turns he rear wheels a maximus of 2.5 degrees within speeds of 20mph and 70mph, it is not used for parking as some people say and it will not make the car feel unstable at 180kays

    & that's the truth :D

I looked into it when there was a fair amount of intrest in the HICAS disconect bars on Ebay on the various forums, although I only did a basic disconect or bypass of the system as a temporay test/guide on mine and then did a run though my favourite play/test track..... I was noticably slower without the HICAS connected....
Infact... 7secs slower than my slowest time ever !!!!

    back home and reinstalled it......

Cant for the life of me understand why ppl disconnect em. Its a de-modification rather than an improvement IMO
    :bash:

on another note.... Wonder if you could actually increase the degrees of operation ?????
2.5 degrees to say 5 degrees

I believe the ONLY real downside people have with HICAS is that if the rear end loses traction, it's been known to 'kick' in and turn the wrong direction - ie. you go into a corner, lose the arse, lock to lock one way and it locks the rear the wrong way. More so for drifting and hardcore motor racing than anything else.

I know HICAS has its place in these cars , street more so than track ,
But how many of the N/A crowd actually miss it , or think their vehicles would be better for it
    (since N/A 's dont have it ? )

I prefer to be able to predict what the car is going to do in hard turns rather than pot luck
