Let the others do the driving today, had some awesome shotgun rides. Jp and i sat back and enjoyed the driving skills. me and my buddy Jim Switched over to the V8 supercars John webb and JP in the office John Webb and JP talking shop Me and my buddy Janmes
looks like fun ron... what was more exhilarating....the v8 supercar or the porsche? totally different types of cars i know but still....
Two totally Different beasts Erik, porsche quiter , smoother, even races with the aircon on, keeps the fuel cool?, intercom,to have a chat, but great machine 500hp out of the box. V8's, loud, aggressive, g forces,, two wheel motoring over some of the ripple strips, can't hear yourself think, but awesome. someone's got to do it Baz.
I was there today too Ron!, I was down on the North Circuit with Robbie Bolger and Matt Mingay helping out with their Sponsor Day Hot laps with the Capa utes. I was watching those cars screaming around up on the top track, had no idea you were in them! lol. I was up at the Sth Circuit at one stage with one of the Capa utes and it was so busy up there, absolutely packed, people everywhere! That looks like a brilliant day Ron Very deserved too I bet the adrenalin is still pumping :biggrin: Wasn't there a stunning display of Racecar Transporters in the pits, the rigs some of those teams have are just amazing.... Caz..
LOL Saw the utes going around and a cefero i think, didn't know you were over there either. we will have to ring each other when were at the track in future. I invited JP up for a run in the porsche and he inturn invited me to a run with John Webb. Bad news about DA eh.
Nice one Ron, looks like you had a blast!! They are stupid quick, particually with a decent steerer. Did you get to keep the race suit as a souvenir? .
LOL ports Had a couple of different ones one, would have liked to have kept one. V8 super car, would you believe low 44's with passenger, awesome, never been over the flip flop so quick in all my life, fair dinkum the ripple strips were under where the driver sits, i was over on the grass, same at suttons, they don't use the track like we have to.
Ain't it absolutely amazing, Ron? You (the generic, not the personal) think you're a fairly good driver then you get into a car driven by a professional and they absolutely floor you with their driver skills. I've been driven around by Dean Canto, Tony D'Alberto and Jim Manolios (Trofeo Motorsport Maserati owner/driver), and the ability of these guys is, well, absolutely amazing. I'm still grinning from Sandown last month, not so much from what I was allowed to do (200kph over the crest on the back straight), but at the THRILL of experiencing how these guys do it so much better!). How cool is JR, still throwing the Porsche around, and at his age?
Spot on Doug You only think you can drive till you compete or drive with the pros, they soon have you realising your not as good as you thought you were. Had a social chat with JR on the intercom all the way around while he was ripping it up, definately their office. But for sheer brutality i have a new found respect for the v8 supercars, if i even attempted to throw my car at the corners and ripple strips like they do, i would be speering off the track all out of control.
Awesome! Not too many people in the future can say they've gone round Oran Park with Jim Richards, nor in a V8 Supercar! Thanks for sharing. PS. wish I got to play cars everyday! *sigh*
