hey yall quick question, started installing my dumps today and it seems the bolts provided are to long, the ones that go into the turbo, theres only 2 on each turbo. anyone else have this problem? im using a nut and some washers as washes but im not to happy with it like that
I'm taking mine to an exhaust place to get mine installed. It's one of those jobs that's best left to the professionals IMHO!!! Go to a bolt supplier and get the correct length bolts.
well this was a hard job but still not worth getting a shop to do it for ya, gonna slap ya 500$ or something for it probably? anyway yeah might pop down to collies or something, dont wanna go odins cause they are always wankers when i go there.
yeah i got new gaskits with the kit. its just annoying, i dont see why it was so hard for them to just match the size of the bolts to the size of the old bolts. just makes life harder.
Its not that hard if you got the tools and experience. But if you make a mistake it can be a real pain in the ass.
i replaced all the bolts with studs. Using bolts is a pain in the ass and not as reliable if you haver to remove them.
I got the ebay dumps and didn't have any problems with the bolts, Im sure you have the right ones, otherwise use the old ones. Also don't use the gaskets supplied for the turbos, use the stock ones. the other gaskets for the test pipes are fine.
dude dont bother using the bolts that came with the dumps. you are supposed to just re-use the stock ones. they fit 100%
.. i got some of these not that long ago and i found it really straight forward and alll the bolts were the right size and went up easy
im using all the gaskets that are supplied with my kit. i dont see a reason not to unless someone could please state WHY before i put my other side on.
seriously man posting about wrong bolt size aint gona fix the problem. either get new bolts or use the stock ones. problem solved. OMG!
i wasnt asking for a solution i was just wondering if anyone else who had these dumps and had the same problem as i find it really weird that they are different lengths to the stock ones. I know they are deffinatley to long as after trying to force it in some and then removing the bolt the end of the bolt was a little damaged. anyway, OFF TO COLLIES I GO
i paid an exhaust shop $100 to put my dumps/front pipes in.. the way i see it thats only 3 hrs factory work to pay for it, your spending how many hours dicking around with it?
yes but im also gaining experience with working on my own vehicle, which is worth alot more than money, at least this way i can add some things to the list of what i can do on my zed. although, for 100$, thats pretty damn good, places close to me wouldn't even LOOK at a zed for 100$ lol. anways, collies had the bolts i needed ( which was suprising, ive got both dumps on now just gotta tighten everything up. on a side note, i asked my mate about this gasket rumor, he said its because if theres gaps then exhaust can leak and destroy the gasket? but this happened to his stock metal gasket on his rb25 so i dunno what the fuss is about.
