    Hi there,

Does anyone know how to remove the rear trim from a 2 seater, to be more specific, I need to get access to the quarter windows (bought some quarter window shades) and to mount these will need to remove the trim that covers the inside of the car near the quarter window.

The peice in question has the hydraulic shock looking thing that holds up the hatch, this has a ball joint thing on it, this is the part I am really not very confident about, do you just force this off??

    Thanks

    On all the rear trime

There should be a clip followed by a nut / bolt (found this out installing my rear strut brace) almost or every single piece has it, I started from the middle back and undid them all as they kind of overlap each other and is the best way to do it, not sure about the rear quaters tho I took them off also but either last or 2nd last after the rest I remember there was a bolt and clip / overlay on these also. 1 or 2 from memory.

    this might help

this is what the part looks like on it's own so you can see where the bolts are then the rest should just unclip with a bit of a yank. 1/4 trim Looks like you have to remove just about every panel around it. Or you may be able to just pry the adjacent panels up and slide your hand in and undo the nuts that way. Just Don't drop any nuts or you'll with you had removed all the panels. You're gonna need to prop the hatch up too so it doesn't come down like a guillotine or worse, smash the window.

By the way what are the shades? tinting film?

Well the shades arent exactly tint film, they are like plastic covers with a 300ZX logo that go inside the window:

Not sure if that link will work.

I reckon I might be able to slide that panel out enough to allow access to the window, seems to be some room to move.

    Thanks guys

I had these shades on my 2+2 and it wasn't necessary to

remove any trim to fit or remove them. Each shade is fitted by 3 metal clips that hold them between the glass and the lower trim and upper rubbers.

I'd be very surprised if the 2+0 wasn't fitted the same way.

PM me if you want to get in contact with the new owner of my zed to get a picture of the clips I'm talking about.

    Hmmmm

I think the numb nut that sold me these has sold me a set for a 2X2 then as there is no way this will fit with out removing the trim and then I dont think its right still.

Might have to whack them up for sale.

    Thanks guys.

    Not the light up ones.

Nah they do come with the clips to attach them, but they arent the illuminated ones.
