quick question, i was about to hook up an air compressor at work to the boost leak tester untill someone suggested its not a good idea to pump 1,000 psi into the engine, i was under the impression i could lower the pressure on the compressor but we couldent.

so, to get 7psi into the engine, would a bike pump be sufficient?

You have a 1000 PSI compressor at your work that ISN'T adjustable? When you pay for that sort of equipment, I'd have thought that sort of thing was standard.

u shouldnt put more than 7 psi in the system, u can cause some fairly serious damage if u do. does your boost leak tester have a guage?

and no i bike pump wont suffice, ive tried  i saw an article somewhere on tt.net that said that about 5 seconds on an air compressor (proper size) is enough without overdoing it

haha dude. bike pump !! as if..

you dont need 2 turn your compressor down as your z will leak untill all the boost leaks are fixed. fix the leaks then pressurise until it holds and doesnt leak at about 7psi or so... its easy :D

could old / tired turbos be the cause of not hitting max boost?

if the stock psi level is 9 then i have a 0.5psi boost leak somewhere, but i thought that it could just be old turbos running out of puff.

    what you think WazTTed ?

bike pump, provided its heavy duty enough, will work if you have no leaks.... but u cant get the air in fast enough if there is a leak... tis why compressor is recommended

a double barrel foot pump from s/crap should do the trick...

    bike pump? LOL

that's like trying to power your car with a hamster wheel and a few hamsters. a foot pump might work if you had no leaks. if you did have leaks it will build no pressure.
