Its hard t do without a hoist and a tranny lift. But you can do it.

Its probably no harder than any other car, Just a bit less room to get your hands up top of the tranny.

First proper job I did on my Z. Chucked in the deep end so to speak :p

Get your self some big jack stands, 4 min

Big jack or 2, prefferably 2.

Propper tools, including a uni, breaker bar and a couple of foot long extensions.

Clutch alignment tool or an old input shaft

    3 days or so.

Follow the tech articles that are floating around and you'll be fine. I made a support for the gearbox which I attached to a couple of trolley jacks so I could lower and raise the g'box without horrible pain. (I'm skinny, and a bit soft :p)

Yeah it is such a piece of piss last time I did it. I rooted my shoulder up doing bloody moses car back in Feb. Now I have to go into the hospital tomorrow to get it fixed. Being in constant pain sucks ass.

Balancing a friggin gearbox on your chest and hoping you aligned the inpout shaft properly isnt fun. The first 5 times

Try lifting it up and putting it in on a hoist and then tell me how easy it is.

Tranny hoist was $348 vs the $1200 out of pocket, it is costing to fix my shoulder. I know what I would rather pay. :p

All up this surgery is costing around $3500 FFS !!!

Yeah, lining it up once you ready to put it all back together. You have to get the input hsaft of the gearbox lined up with the clutch friction disc and the spigot bearing in the crank. Goes in kinda easy once you got the angle right. Just a bit tricky, helps if you have someone who can lend a hand.

All lies! :) top of tranny isn't bad with the right tools, (long extension and u-joint).

A hoist may be nice but you really just need your car jacked up pretty high. oh and you don't need tranny lift, just bolt a broken shovel to your spare jack like I did :) :)

I am just waiting for the next comment

    "harden the fuk up"

Took me 15 mins and hardly any effort to put my manual box in the other day. On my own.

    I love my tranny lift.

Just want to add my bit to this, Ive swaped clutches on my pat several times and most
things have been said. I found that lifting the box back up again was a pain, so now
after I pull the box out I keep it elevated, pushing it back far enough to wedge it up against
the tunnel and using a spare jack and stands, this keeps it off the ground whilst you
do your bit with flywheel and clutch. When re-installing, just push it forward, no lifting.
