so i put the car into the HICAS diag mode to find out why my steering is heavy and hicas light turns on sometimes... I eliminated the basic things like power steering fluid. i get 1 long flash, followed by 1 longer flash then 4 quick flashes. after that i get 1 long flash followed by 3 quick flashes... Now having an 89 car i didnt think there was meant to be any quick flashes. Also to put into full diag mode u need to drive 15ft under 9mph, however it puts itself in diag mode after 30seconds.... i think. the back tyres move from side to side in succession... ALSO it says to drive over 9mph or turn key off to take it out... well i drove 40kph back to my house and it was still on, i could feel the backend twitching and the lights were still flashing. because of this i am guessing speed sensor... Thoughts? What do i have to do to fix a ps solenoid - easy?
as per manual "check ps solenoid operation by disconnecting plug" wheres the bloody - plug??? as voltage to connector to see if ps solenoid buzzs.... wheres the bloody plug and what do i use to create voltage? disconnect voltage source and make sure the solenoid vibrates afterwards - wheres the bloody solenoid, and plug and what voltage source...
I know that the relays are in the boot under the driver side trims. Maybe its all there Something buzzes back there too. Also under the bonnet, front passenger side (between head light and strut tower) 2 electric motor looking thingys with sol written on them. Pull the plugs off them and see what happens. Good luck buddy.
Go see Pex who has full version of conzult or datascan (can't rem which one) it does hicas diagnostics
found the solenoid... and the plug... unplugged tried putting power through the solenoid no change. i am guessing its rooted. cant find a replacment on any site... coz ttz or courtsey. anyone know where to get a replacement
You'll lose some but pffffffft, just swap it, top it up and run it. Then top it up again if you need to. I had fluid all everywhere when we did the engine swap
