I was at Tony (Z_FNQ) 's place today and a leak test revealed a leak around the EGR at the back of the engine. Has anyone had this sort of problem, and is removing the plenum the only way around fixing the leak??.
At least we found the main leak, a badly fitting hard pipe joiner. :) The car is getting way more boost. But it could be better. Pity they changed the Kuranda Range to only 60km/hr.

By removing the battery some of the EGR stuff is accesible. What kind of leak test was it? if it was a boost leak then the EGR to intake manifold pipes are not at the back, they are at the sides

The leak seems to be at the base of the EGR. We took the battery out to get a better look at it. From my understanding of the EGR it vents into the plenum. I gather this is at the lower plenum, which I have never removed. I did however do a plenum waterjacket bypass about 6 months ago and replaced all the EGR hoses then.

EGR vents into the bottom of the upper plennum. The hoses on the EGR are vacuum only, the actual exhuast recirculation pipes are hard pipes. The plate it normally leaks is where it joins up to the plennum, often a damaged gasket or the bolts aren't done up tightly. They are in a prick of a spot to get to.

But the pipes connect to the Plenum, and the EGR solenoid as well with compression fittings which is at the back!

BTW, nice to you back James :D
