Lately as gauge reaches normal operating temp.it is ok for 5--10 mins, then needle starts to flicker and drops to zero for maybe 20 odd secs. then returns to normal.it may stay at this position for maybe 5--10 mins then starts the whole process over again.
The engine is not over heating and is not using any water
Any thoughts on why this is happening, or is the gauge stuffed ?????

Check all the connections, might be something not quite touching or putting too much resistance in the line.

Does it do it on an idle? or only when moving?

    Certain speeds?

Anything else that you do when it happens?

PS your sig pic is huge

Wrap the yellow temp connector up with some electrical tape. I had the same problem with mine and that fixed it. What happens is, the clutch fan blows on the connector and affects the reading.

At idle spot on centre - normal
The process seems to start when I am cruising on 100kph
But if I accelerate the needle seems to start to drop and when i de-accelerate the needle comes up to centre.

my needle used to act as an inverted tacho as well. It just ended up being the connector. Give the metal surface and the connector a good clean.

Its not the yellow connector its the thin black one next to it. Mine was lose so I twisted it on. Just be carefull if you twist too much you can snap the top of the plug off.

This is the black ruffly 5mmX5mX10mm sized plug in the top alloy water pipe.
