hi guys need some help recently changed the the injectors in my car to 550cc venom ones and also the fuel injector plugs started the car you can smell fuel from the exhaust can some one tell me whats causing it please what to check??????
I would think you would have to get a tune , remap done to let the computer know you have different injectors in there . My 2 cents Cheers Patrick
were u the dude that asked recently if venom injectors are any good. and the Huge responce was NO THEY ARE CRAP... VENOM INJECTORS FAIL... search venom here and tt.net... id say your cheapo injectors have failed... solution buy a set of nismos (that have now cost you an extra 500 dollars) and not 2 mention the time and effort. especially if your not doing the work yourself
Silly to think an upgraded set of injectors can just simply be plugged in and run as-is. First things first, you NEED a re-tuned eprom. The 'K' value will need to be adjusted to suite whatever sized injectors you now have. If you increase the injector size on the previous tune, it will simply flood as the bigger injectors flow more fuel. (hence the fuel smell and shit economy) Do this straight away, then go from there...
If you had the stock injectors and just changed to the 555's you will be putting far too much fuel in as the 555's are running at the same pulse width as the stockies were. Imagine allowing water under pressure to flow through a half inch hose (stock injectors) and then at the same pressure flowing through a one inch hose (555's) for the same amount of time (pulse width) in each case. You need to open the larger hose for less time to equal the same amount of flow as the smaller hose. I know that's a crap analogy but it should explain it. You'll need to get the EPROM remapped to suit the larger injectors.

WTF, guys, stop just telling him that venom are crap. Whether they are or not isn't his query. He's got them now how about some constructive help to get the car running again. They havn't failed yet, he just hasn't got the right tune in there to run it. Mate, get a chip with the correct K value to suit. A number of members here can burn one for you and send it to you. I'd offer but I'm away from home at the moment and can't help. The chip itself is about $20 and it's a bin that a number of guys have sitting on their PC's. Just post up that you need one and you'll find in the myriad of useless replies that someone will offer you the service.
COuld be a leaking fuel filler cap? Skylinesaust use and recommend venoms, good customer support if they do (if) fail. If a tune doesnt help the situation id be looking for some sort of fuel leak... is the car drivable or does is backfire like crazy?
thanks mate the car is driveable there was a fuel leak on one injector that was because of the collar folded thats fixed so should take it for a tune
Yeah, when I replaced an engine on the last car with a second hand motor, it came with 555's which no-one was aware of. Motor went in and she ran like a dog. Drivable...but like a dog. Stupid rich. Dropped in a 555 tune and she purred like a kitten.
Do an oil & filter change...... When you have a massive oversupply of fuel (as you have experienced) then petrol can seep past the rings and contaminate your oil. Do NOT run the engine. Pull your dipstick and smell/inspect the oil for petrol odour and very low viscosity. Fit a new chip with appropriate K value (I would not risk running it until you have the K value altered), then change the oil & filter & run the engine for about 15 secs (to circulate the oil a few times) and do ANOTHER oil/filter change. After that you should be sweet. $100 worth of oil/filters is good insurance and a LOT cheaper than an engine rebuild
