Hi all, Just want to confirm with the gurus here before rushing off and spending 5 hours of time before realising i was wrong and i was a fuse all along... Recently my reverse lights have been giving me problems. Sometimes when i put it into reverse the lights come on, sometimes they dont. When they do come on, sometimes they flicker depending on where the gear stick is. For e.g. usually when i applied pressure to the stick in the direction of reverse gear, i would get the light to come on and for some reason just when the gear engaged it would also flick on. Anyway, this morning i noticed that it wasnt working at all. Now im thinking that this is simply just the reverse light sensor on the top of the GB wasnt plugged in correctly but i want to make sure before starting work on pulling it out as its a real pain in the ass. Discuss.
have you tried simply disconnecting the reverse switch sensor plug and giving the connectors a clean / file?
That would be an excellent place to start(as there is no other switch in that circuit). Could be dirty contacts inside the switch itself.:zlove::zlove:
i had the same problem.. they replaced something when i took it 2 the transmition shop! cant remember what but i think it was the sensor, cost me like.. $120 when they did it
I had the same problem, this fixed it all up. Well it was dirty contacts somewhere, haha, thats what the auto elec told me anyway. I'm so useless.
Auto or manual? Do you have an auto or manual? If an auto, is it changing normally? If not then check the auto trans fuse in the ds kick panel, bottom row, 5th from front. It's marked ASCD and if it blows then at doesn't work and reverse lights don't work. I found out the hard way when I replaced the normal globes with low beam globes and they shorted out.
its a manual. is there a way to get to this sensor other than actually dropping the box out? can you get to it by pulling out the centre console?
