Suddenly last night there was a little vibartion started from front driver side wheel. It felt like going over the lane separator in fwy. It doesn't vibrate constantly. Not sure if the wheel bearing has given up. How to check or if someone had similar symtop in past? I can take the car to auto service centre to check but want to make sure they are experienced enough to tell me the exact faulty part. My mate had an issue with vibration and MIDUS replaced all 4 rotor with new one and ended up with spending $2200.00 including labour where is he could fix the issue by doing some machine job in rotor. Don't want to be ripped off by not knowing exactly what they are talking about.

Thanks in advance. BTW odo is 193K. Not sure if bearing has been changed ever.

    :)

ive just replaced my wheel bearing a bit over a month ago...if its vibrating while ur braking.. odds are its the rotors....my problem was realised when i was changing my brake pads....and tried 2 turn the wheel hub and it locked in a certain spot in every rotation....then you know you have problems...

Thanks..according to symptom the noise coming from same spot in every rotation and it is not locking up. I am going to visit a auto service center to double check. Where did you buy the bearing from? How much was it and can I have the address and ph #? Did you buy the front one?

Unless you have a fully equiped workshop with a good hydraulic press, you won't be doing this job yourself(so why not let the workshop get the bearings at trade price)?

very true. i changed mine myself and with my dad using the press, and even so it was a massive pain in the ass and am still afraid that i did something wrong...

you should have heard how bad the bearing was that we pulled out :D

I have the same issue now. but I only get noise when the car starts from first gear and after that i don't hear it. I have recently changed the front brake pads, machnical did it for me. Would that cause this noise??

I took it ultra tune to check and the guy said souds like wheel bearing and he is getting me the price for replacement. Don't want to spend 2K on it.

As I am working full time and driving my car everyday, can i still drive the car for another week??? untill i get it fixed or I shouldn't take the risk??

Guess what...There was a big nut with screw stuck on the rubber and big enough top make the wheel bumpy, LOL. I should have check it by myself, but the tyre didn't flat so I thought it wasn't the tyre issue. Shame...shame on me. Cost $25.00 to do a repair. All good......I spent almost 3 hours pulling out thread to know about more about wheel bearings...well I hope I know more about wheel bearings now....:D :D :D :D

Hope everything will be OK as long as you are not ripped off or they are not replacing something which is not faulty...and charging you for the time to do research what is wrong...let me know how you go...sooner or later I need to replace my bearings tooooooo.

If it's bearing failure it will be constant noise and it will usually get louder as you go faster. Like a roaring or sand being crushed around sort of noise.

Test it by swerving back and forth at low speed. If the sound changes then it's probably bearings.

Oh, and the wheel falling of is another sure sign.

Also steering wandering can be an indication.

If neither of those symptoms, probably not bearings.
