Hey guys ok heres my epic failure...

Couple of days ago i started my car an thort ooo that sounds a bit rough, gave it a rev an i believe it was running on 5 cylinders so i thort ok i will take it for a lap around the block just to see how much power it has lost and after the first street it was all cleared up an running fine. So that was that...

So this morning i started it up b4 work an it has done the same thing so i thort yeah it will smoothen up soon, Ok so now by the time i have driven to an from work it is still running & sounding like a gutless Subaru, (no offence subaru drivers):)

My question to you is were do i start! Is it plugs, coil pack's....

What to you does it sound like?????

    Thanks in advance guys

I'd try coil pack connectors first then move to the Ptu :)

does ur CAT overheat light come on?
if "NO" try ur injector connectors AFTER the coil pacs and PTU.
if u stil have problems after checkin in this order pull ur plugs and have a look.
next step is to swap out the coil packs :)
    Regards

yep check for corrosion AND connection.(crimp them tighter if u have to .)
if u suspect an injector ohm's test it .(should be around 12ish)

Cat temp sensor signal doesn't go to the ecu, or affect the running of the car in any way. O2's wont cause your problem. Check coil connectors, coilpacks, injector connectors, ptu and CAS.

Yeah i knew that the cat temp sensor doesn't do squat weather it is cut or not was just clarifying.

agreed sound exactly like a coil pack connector is coming loose ...at least thats where id start. get some cable ties and tie down the connectors so they dont come loose.... either they are popping off a bit or the connections are really corroided...

if they have been cut,the light will stay on i think, much better to pull them out and tie them up,or take the connection off the box near the gearstick

Ok so i bought new spark plugs an replaced an still no change, so i then removed the coil pack an shoved one of my old spark plugs into it just to see if was giving spark and unfortunately YES it was.

So does this now mean it is my injectors???? Also how much are injectors new?
An how pricey is it to get them replaced i assume it is alot as the plenum has to come off.

Also i did also try cleaning the injector plugs an yeah no change.

Could just be the injector connectors. Clean them and see how you go.

    Should've read more thouroughly...

Have you definately isolated the cylinder that isn't firing? Definately number 3? Pull the coilback and plug and see if you can get it to spark out of the engine. If you got spark, pull the CAS and rotate with the ignition on and listen for the little click of it opening.

If your getting no click could be dead injector or a damaged wire between the ecu and injector, test continuity between injector plug and ecu.
