Hi I noticed these ECU chips for sale on Ebay from about $15 upwards claiming to give upto 400 rwhp with realatively minor mods, has anyone tried them and do they work ? I would love abit more power but not at the expense of reliability or drivability. My boost is running at about 14 psi with a 2 stage boost controller, everything else mechanically looks standard apart from a better flowthrough exhaust and a heavier clutch. What else would I need ? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
From memory one member on here purchased one a few weeks back, but I don't know if they have fitted it or tested it. Have a search and maybe send them a PM. Definately don't buy one until you have more info, and even then you are better off doing it properly.
400hp on stock turbos with a chip. you realise thats 300kw. no chance in hell at those power levels a bad tune ...and PING there goes a ROD!!! get it done properly man
400 rwhp ECU chips for $15...... if only it was that simple ..... :bash: think of all the thousands of dollars we could have saved if all we had to do was bang in a 'chip' me thinks a pack of salt n vinegar chips would give you more 'sting'
what the power increase thanks for your answers, how much power would I expect from having turned up the boost through my boost controller to 14psi, with the ony other mods being better exhaust? What if I add pods as well? cosidering 300 hp is standard ! thanks
XYZ there is no formula every car is different. do you have intercoolers do you have dumps what turbos what tune stock ecu ? error codes? what injectors list goes on
Get your ECU socketed so that you can plug in a unit called an Ostrich (search for it), then get a blatz cable and a laptop with Tuner Pro installed on it and take it to your preferred dyno tuner. Take advice Pexzed has given on this forum before and get them to tune the closed loop for economy and the open loop for SAFE performance. Instead of continuing to keep the Ostrich connected, burn the new bin file to a chip and install it. You'll be delighted with the results and end up with a safe and economical tune written specifically for your car without too much of an outlay. Hope this helps
No they are junk. Any chip that has not specifically been tuned to your car is a waste of time and money and potentially dangerous. Where in NSW are you?
It will just be a generic "performance tune" The only way to properly tune your car is on a dyno. The problem with a generic performance tune, is that all the safety margin is removed from the original Nissan programming so if something is pushed a little hard, then something may break. Things these tunes may affect A/F ratio leaned out Timing advanced Rev limiter raised Speed limiter raised AFM limit raised etc etc
Central Coast Yeh Im on the Central Coast, I can get to Sydney occasionally, so if there are any good recommended Performance Workshops in Sydney please let me know & I'll give them a call & see what they can do. I've always loved the shape of the 300zx's and it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it, so I DONT want to stuff it up !
jesus....300rwkw @ 15$? welll...im an idiot for spending 40+k for it then aint i...... Least i know mine will last longer! Even if it is only a week longer... ;/ :bash: :banned:
