PM K-zed. I got a socketed ECU from him on exchange for $100. Notice more torque down low but wasn't visible on the dyno.

    Also try search socketed ECU

    UniChip...

if you were in melb I would say go see forum member "bob from oz" who sells the Hitec chips. But this is only viable if you are in melb...

otherwise, I would suggest getting a UniChip. I have one in my car, $1280 installed and tuned. It increased the power output from 135rwkw to 155rwkw on my car. But each car is different with different mods and varying states of engine health. So you may see more or less.

    Cheers

My Unichip, once correctly installed, gave a 34rwKw increase in power and nearly twice the torque, with no discernible effect on fuel economy (under 'normal' driving conditions... obviously more power requires more fuel, so if you flog it the car will be less economical). I don't have any of the engine internal mods that Jedi does, so maybe the Unichip makes a more noticeable difference to an essentially stock setup. In a TT, the increase is more like 70rwKw.

Correct me if im wrong, but hasn't that sale on ebay finished?

Im pretty sure you can retune your existing ECU using ConsultZ too, not sure, will have to double check that.

But i heard that the uni chip is pretty impressive, i was looking at an Apexi Neo to do remaps and over rides for your existing ECU, basically a daughter ECU. PLus it looks pretty sexy on your dash, i have noticed a few people have them, such as PHATT and Sim300.

    well..

it seems decent enough, but without seeing the actual tune and changes they have made to the timing and fuel maps, I would be very hesitant to try it.... obviously they wont show you this, because then anyone would be able to copy it.....

    Cheers

    consult...

no, you cant "tune" your ECU using consult... you can globally add/subtract fuel and timing, but thats it. And once you turn the car off or disconnect consult, the changes you made are gone.

retune the stock ecu.. with programs such as.. romeditor, nistune.. way better and no where near expensive as unichip

    Two shae!

A professional tuner will whipe your old ecu settings, maps ect and apply new and improved ones based on results from your dyno, and write this back to the original hardware

doesnt even need to be a professional.. ill be tuning my ecu myself but its not a VG30 ecu..:D but still something nissan

What do you class as a Professional?

Someone else made a coment like what you have suggested not long ago to use an editing program and do your own. Be thoughtful about certain individuals in the world that will take your advice as gospel and do exactly what you have suggested and make a tune capable of destroying the engine extremely quickly. You come across as it's no big deal to do your own but you are someone who knows a lot more about engine fundamentals than the average bear.

I have done many hours of research and conversing with others knowledgeable in this field and spent countless hours experimenting and learning how to safely extract more power through ECU parameter manipulation. Yes, to create and install a new chip is like baking a cake but to have the cake come out burnt takes no skill at all!

    So, are you going to

tell us N/A plebs that we can extract more power from our N/A's with the right "recipe for the cake" and you can help us out here.......or are we just dreaming of more power and should be looking at a TT????

From my own personal point of view, and please this is my opinion only. The N/A has more than enough power for having some light entertainment, remember it's not a drag car, it's not a V8 with legs after 160k/hr, it's a 3L V6 naturally aspirated 20yr old design engine on a classy sports car bod which can still blow most cars round roundabouts and corners, has enough sting off the mark to get half a woody and the best part is when you have her sideways she sings, slides and hangs on beautifully cos of the LSD. My opininon remember....

With all the right mods you can get an NA up to around the same power output as a stock TT setup - 150-170rwKw. But you're looking at big bucks - head work, cams, block internals, plenum mods, throttle bodies, after-market ECU chip of some sort, as well as the bolt-on stuff. Think about what you really want before you start modding your NA. You may well be better off trading for a TT and going from there for less $$$.

    I hear you there

and probably another good reason for me to stay with the N/A. I can't help myself as it is, so a TT and me, would be reduced to a pushbike pretty quickly I think. Not really sure of the RWKW, seems to be a bit varied. 150 plus seems to be achievable without a whole lot of money. Others who have dyno'd can tell you more.
