my z was hit by some dumbass back in november & today the assessor from racv came out to the panel beaters to have a look at my car ... the quote i got form my panel beater was for just under $4500 & they have knocked it back to just over $1000 & all im pretty much getting is a repaired or second hand rear bumper .... I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO PISSED OFF ABOUT ANYTHING OVER MY CAR MORE THAN THIS ... i spent 8 months looking for a Z that hadn't been bashed around unlike most of the ones i had seen .. i had it checked over by a mechanic AND a panel beater before i bought it ... both of which gave me reports about the car ... a month before the accident i installed a BRAND NEW bosch fuel pump which was wokring perfectly ... this girl drives straight into the back on my car & one hour later my fuel pump dies ... NOW the stupid b*tch wouldn't pay her excess & i had no way of getting to work or home without my car so i have the pump replaced straight away .. i supplied the panel beater with an invoice for the pump which also had noted on it by a mechanic that the fuel pump died as a result of the accident & some other things about the damage too ... the whole rear end of my car is out of alignment ... the left rear quater sits out alot more than the right hand side & the bumper has bent on the join to the rear quater (which has now also been bent)

SO THEY WILL NOT COVER MY FUEL PUMP MY REAR QUATER (which may i add also has chipped paint from the other girls headlights) OR ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT FOR MY BUMPBER BAR ... i know how my car was before the accident & its alot worse now & my boot shuts a retartedly on the left side because the quarter panel is now out ... i cant believe these tightass pr*cks ... once this assessor puts in his report im going to fkn loose the plot with them ... ehhhhhhhh i hate them soooo much

From a few people in the industry (my father has his own insurance agency for a start) I have always been told to steer well clear of RACV, they may be cheap but when it comes to paying out claims they turn out to be, well, cheap.

If the other person is at fault it should not make any difference to you if they have paid their excess or not, your insurance company should pay your costs and it is up to them to get the money form the other person or their insurance company.

I hit a huge rabbit in my old car which knocked something into my radiator. Because what ever it was was still lodged in the radiator there were no noticeable effects until about eight months later it came out, the radiator dumped all it's coolant and all hell broke loose. As soon as it was apparent that the problem was caused by some kind of accident and not just the radiator wearing out CGU paid up with no questions asked.

Wow that sucks for you. I'd be taking them to small claims and making them pay to get the job done properly. How can they just refuse to fix damage that was done?

Lesson learned from this though. I am going to go and take photos of all panels etc on my car to note current condition. I suggest everyone else do the same. That way if a similar incident happens, I have evidence of the previous good condition of the vehicle, and can show that the insurance has not had the car fixed properly - eg can show before incident photos of panels lining up compared to after incident repairs where the panels dont line up.

Hopefully you can turn this around a little. Perhaps several legally threatening letters and calls to RACV will help remedy your cause? Realising that the insurance assesors job is to cut down on repair bills, they usually go as far as they can. You will need to refute and counter thier claim (show photographic evidence of the panel damage that they dont want to pay for), otherwise you will get stuck with minimum level repairs.

do not sit back and take the shit. you should go through your own insurance company and let them do all the work for you. you will probz have to pay the excess at first but you will get this back when the claim has been processed and they have gained the payment from the other company.

you should not be communicating with her insurance company. go through your own company and let them do all the work. regardless wheather she is refusing or not to pay her claim has got nothing to do with your veh getting repaired.

your insurance company would probably want 3 quotes i think. then when they pick one your insurance company will get it....they other insurance company cannot offer you a price or negotiate it....

if they persist dont listen and dont take it. ring the insurance ombudsman on 1300 780 808 and tell them the whole situation etc etc. it wont cost you anything to put through a claim with them. they will talk to both insurance companies and the insurance companies have to listen to these guys.

It's a false economy to insure for 3rd party Fire & Theft, but I guess you know that now.:(

I think it's time for you to speak with a Solicitor(you DO have the right to have your car returned to pre accident condition). RACV are trying to bluff you into accepting their assessment.

the girl has paid her excess but when the accident first happened & my pump died she didnt pay the excess straight away so RACV couldn't process the claim & could not give me any approval for "emergency repairs" but yeah it has been paid now

i spoke to just cars again & being that i only have 3rd party they cannot act on behalf but they did give me a number for the lawyers that they use & suggest i call them for advice

i have photos of my car i took about a month before the accident just after i washed it and the rear end looks straight so i can print off a few of those pics & take some more of my car now showing the differences

ill have to wait til the assessor puts the report in today or tomorrow before i can take it any further with them but there is no way im letting this shit slide ... im just so pissed off that they do this to people and i bet there are alot of people out there who have no idea & just accept what they say is right while all along they are just taking advantage of them ... fk the RACV they are going to pay for my car whether they like it or not

    trouble is chad...

zxdreamer only had third party cover....... which means the insurance company wont look after you the same way they would if you had full comprehensive insurance...

I was in a similar incident many years ago with my old sigma, and at the time only had 3rd party fire and theft (why would you take out full comp on a sigma..:).... I had some crash into me, who didnt have the money to pay his excess, and when I asked RACV for help (who I was insured with at the time), they gave no help.... when I pushed and complained the girl said to me over the phone (and these are her exact words) "you cant expect royals royce treatment if you only drive a commodore"..... so basically, they would not help me because I didnt have full comp insurance.... my response to her was "so I'm a number, not a member?" since at the time RACV was pushing that whole shit of "you're a member, not a number".... since then, I have refused to be insured by RACV and have always gone elsewhere.... thankfully, they wouldnt insure the zed anyway so I dont even have to consider them....

hope it all gets sorted zxdreamer.... try the complaint avenue if nothing else...

    Cheers

im sure it would be easier just to let it slide but this car is my pride & joy ... id rather go through all the shit they are going to put me through & get my car fixed the way i want than let them walk all over me & rip me off

    What he said.

They should be able to give you a case number or some such and it will go on record that you complained now rather than a couple of weeks down the track or whenever everyone else gets their stuff sorted which should help your case.

just spoke to insurance obudsman & they wont do anything for me because my quote is over $3000 ... all they said i can do is make a complain with racv themselves ... what a load of shit

    grrr thats gay.

ok racv will have their own dispute area. give them a call and tell them i would like to speak to the dispute resolution area about this claim. if the person that your speaking to tries to explain anything to you, or tries to go into too much information, just say to them straight out, excuse me i would like to speak to the dispute resolution area, are you going to put me through. speak to the dispute resolution area about this claim...see what happens with that.
