Digital Display

Hey guys,

Has anyone ever Transplanted a 180sx Digital Heads up Display to a 300zx, i was driving my mates 180sx and like fell in love with the heads up display lol has anyone ever done it??

Would also like to know if this can be done and has anybody here done it.

My mate has a U13 Bluebird with the same setup in it, but has indicators and most of the other lights that are on the instrument cluster.

I would presume it could be wired directly to the ecu or would it have to be connected to the instrument cluster.

 

Just buy the defi HUD kit. Much easier than trying to retrofit something else.

 

I saw that set up on a zed on the u.s forum,it looked great

 

any pics of these......as in a good one that isnt some black box mounted on the dash?

btw this is not a 180sx thing.....your friend must of had it done to his 180sx...

 

Well i've been in Two 180sx's and They both had it =/

and i bought a Silvia 2 weeks ago that had it,
91 Jspec N/A Q club
and i thought they never had them so i guess it was a factory option

 

Just look on the defi website for pics.

It will always be a black box sitting on the dash as there is obviously not a custom slot waiting for a defi unit pre built into a 300zx

Like any other gauge though, the setup can look as nice as the time/effort your prepared to put into it.

 

hmmm, that might just be out of luck that all of those were fitted with them....im really sure they are not as HUD first came out like 5 years ago or so.....180sx is like 16 yo or so....

 

Nahh I remember way back in the late 80's early 90's there was tv ads with a dopey father and son crapping on about the "head up display" in the new (then) Bluebird.

And the member Yellowzed has the defi setup in his car. He might be able to provide installed pics.

 

dont talk to me about the 180sx HUD.... mine didn't have 1

 

Sorry IBBI, but prior to me buying my Z32 in 2000, I was looking a various Silvia and 180SX options. Almost every one had HUD fitted as OEM delivered from the factory.:zlove:

 

yup i remember those ads

wouldn't that be illegal now in australia as the only color lights allowed to be seen from front of your car is white and amber

if that would be allowed (lighting up your windscreen) why those "fully sick bro's" can light up their windscreen washers with blue led's

 

Mate, it was a factory option on the S13 Silvia Q's and K's. I've seen brochures showing it in action, so it definitely wasn't aftermarket.
