How well does your aircon work? Does it actually get cold? I've got a black Zed and an airconditioner that doesn't work. I'm trying to decided if it's worth the dollars to fix properly. It's been regassed but that leaked out and it hardly cooled anyway.

    Cheers,
    Evan.

Mine works really well, had a recon compressor put in after the old one got noisy, but was still icy cold. AutoCool in East Perth supplied the compressor and I put it in, then they re-gassed it with the new gas.

I had the opportunity to place several thermometers in the car, and the aircon worked accurately within 1-1.5 degrees.

The air con in my last Z works, kinda.

I could choose either artic conditions or desert sensation. It flips from one to another at around the 25 degree mark

The AC in all my Z31's works perfect even after all this time and they get nice and cold, my 88T still has the original gas even. The people who say "that's what t-tops are for" regarding AC obviously dont live in hot areas, because that doesn't do shit if it's 40 degrees out! lol

    Street car/daily = AC
Toy car = rip it out

Haha definitely agree with the t-tops thing...sitting in the scorching sun, stuck in afternoon peak hour traffic, roof-off is not a pleasant experience.

Well I got quoted around the $1000 mark to get it repaired..and I decided not to, considering the whole dash has to come out :bash:...
Isn't there stories about you cant use the aircon in 40 degree days in the zed anyway? Cause it overheats the car? Or have I got it wrong

mine pumps out cold air alright but it takes alot to cool the interior of a hot z32 i think its all that glass that does it .

Mine works OK, but on really hot days the car will run quite hot. THis is most probably due to my lack of engine fan and just using 1 16" thermo.

When my aircon was in good condition it would cool the air to near freezing conditions in 40 degree weather as long as the car had good air flow over the radiator (wouldnt work so well stopped at lights for example).
If the car has been sitting out in the summer sun for a while, the air con takes at least 15 minutes to cool the dash down enough to start getting decent cold air.

i recently had mine regassed and converted to r-134a, it works pretty well, but on really hot days (when you really want it) it cant keep up and ends up being just colder than having windows down :(

When i first bought my zed a couple years back my aircon would start but wasnt at all cold. So i took it to a few places and they were scared off by the sight of the engine bay  Then i took to another place and he re-gased it as well as changing it to new gas for only $250. Never had any drama's since. Even works better than my AU falcons aircon..

    A good working a/c

...is as essential as petrol. Mine is terrific.

However, on a 40+ day, the a/c still works fine, but the temperature starts to rise on my temp gauge. Whereas it sits rock solid on 82 deg normally, on a really hot one it sits around 90 deg. Turn on the a/c on such a day and it gets to around 95-97 deg. I know that is still within bounds, but it makes me a little nervous, so I turn the a/c off if in slow traffic or stopped at lights.

Here in Oz, an a/m temp gauge and a TWD is essential. The tinker toy standard temp gauge cannot be trusted.

my A/C works really well .. has a compliance regas label..

.. but to be safe, i do not use the A/C during hard drive cruises in the hills/mountains .....
