In the first week so far, the following has happened Puncture in tyre (Tyre 3 weeks old) Tent pole falls onto car in the gale force winds = 1 dent passenger side front fender. Driving today, Big rock in the road just over crest of a hill, no time to avoid, goes under car, dents sump, dents and punctures transmission pan, dents and nearly destroys centre muffler, and pushes the muffler and heat shield against the drive-shaft. Result is a tow back to the nearest RACQ endorsed workshop. Good guy mechanic, removes sump and pan, panel beats dents, MIG welds the trans pan, some new engine oil and trans fluid, panel beat the exhaust and heat shield and I am back on the road. Not bad for a Sunday. Still have to get 4 holes in the muffler repaired. Hopefully I can now enjoy the rest of my time off !!
Not much chance of that Greg, I would be pretty depressed for the next week at least. At least you don't have an engine to rebuild
You're not related to... Chevy Chase by any chance are you? Sounds like a National Lampoon type holiday. Hopefully things improve from here. Cheers Geoff
Sorry to hear, but what a mechanic to help you out like that - wish there were more like that. All the best for the rest of your holiday, surely that's setting you up for a great time left.
$220 all up, so basically was equiv to a auto trans service He was a legend!! LOL, I am in the middle of Noosa Stef on an ensuite caravan site, hardly bush camping:biggrin: 4.5 Star park.
damn.. that sucks pex lucky you didn't do your front bar in.. I once took the Zed to Tamborine Mt. near the Goldie... Why put 15 inch speed bumps in a 4 star camping/caravan park? Gosh that was a painful night
both bad and good luck at the same time.... dented, torn engine sumps can go real bad real quick,as im sure your aware..... a siezed or damaged engine would have made for a cruddy holiday ....did all this happen while you were towing anything....?
A ROCK? Greg, you've got it made. Look what a rock did for Dickie Johnson! Hope the rest of your hols come up to expectation!
eeeekkkkk, greg ... thank the lordie is was not a heap worse .. glad you came out of it all well and intactus .... happy new year to youse alls in noosa ....
Was towing the jetski out to Boondooma dam, 180 KM trip each way. Tammy's sister and extended family were out there for a few days, and we were going to have a fang around the lake for a few hours in the PWC. I'm going to the zorst shop tomorrow to have the muffler patched, might take my camera and get some shots.
