    Hi guys...

    Please help... I started a job I should never have started :( :( :(
I tried to change my heater core and before I started my car was running sweet. now after putting things back together the car only runs on 3 cylindre. :( :( :(
I have no idea why but I hope its just a hose or something there has been disconnected after trying to get the hoses off the heater core. It is the two back cylinders and the middle one on the passenger side.
    Any ideas?
Can it damage the ECU to disconnect it and put it back in?
Could it be a fuel hose?

Please please help. I spend 10 hours on her, and all I ended up with is a car thats not working anymore. Couldn't even fix the heater...

    Cheers Christian

You cold have damaged the loom when you removed the ECU. How rough where you? You could have upset the coilpack connectors when you disconnected the heater hoses. Are the injectors clicking? How about your PTU, yours is in the foot well, make sure the connections are all good and nothing looks damaged.

its easy to get upset mate. but you need to just take a step back from it.

The chances are its something simple. You need to establish if it is an ignition misfire of if it is mising as a result of a lean fuel mizture.

Check all around the plenum for a vac pipe that has been damaged or disconnected.

I was very careful around my ECU, PTU and the other boxes in my foot well. None of the connectors is bended and I was very careful while I was moving them. In the engine bay I was a bit more rough. So I believe soething happen out there. But I didn't touch anything else than the back of the engine. And I can't see any lose hoses. When it is 3 cylindre how big is the chances that it would be the coilpacks?

If you where leaning all over the engine you may have distrurbed the coilpack connectors.

    More info req'd

Explain the steps you took. Heater core replacement requires little or no interference with EFI harness, PTU, ECU etc.

Which parts of the EFI loom did you disconnect? If you disconnected the injectors on 5 & 6 you may have replaced them back to front.

It sounds like there is a sucking sound from the back of the engine passenger side. Are there any vac hoses there?

My PTU and ECU is next to each other plus another box underneath each of them. I needed to do that to get behind the A/C box and blower to get the clips off as it said in the Heater Core replacement instruction in the tech session. (Heater Core Replacement (Broken Pics) - Twinturbo.net) Not sure which one is the EFI.

Are you translating all directions from the TT.net t/a: LHD to RHD? There should be no need to disturb ECU. PTU is located in engine bay unless you've relocated it?
    I'm confused

EFI loom (or harness) is the one from ECU to all engine controls & sensors.

His PTU is now in the foot well next to the ECU.
