    Hi guys.

Just found out that my coolant system is full of foam. What can cause that except for detergent which I can't remember I put in it...

    Cheers Christian

if you used detergent to lube your hoses at any time (to make them easier to get on and off the pipes/radiator etc), you may have some in your system.

oil in water will do it from head gasket or warped head.

Had a look at the website Anton gave me. I think it is air in the system. The foam is pure white.

thats is good news , if it was caused by oil it would be a dirty colour foam and be thick and sludgy.

I've heard in the past that foaming can be caused by using two different brands of radiator fluids...

ie. stick in one type...then a few months down the track...go out and buy another brand and top it up...

Bring your car up to operating temp with the radiator cap off and slowly top it up with coolant so the foam spills over the neck of the radiator filler. Take it slowly and do a little at a time, letting the foam reach the surface before you add more coolant. A little messy but you'll get rid of it all.

    Thanks guys.
Appreciate your comments. Got rid of most of it now, so will keep an eye on it and see if it comes back. :)
