Hey Guys and Gals, just thought Id chuck out a write up of me playing around on the track again on Saturday.

Most of the guys over here have their cars in pieces re-building for next years season which meant plenty of track time for me :) Needless to say I got quite a few runs in, and am happy to say I made some good improvement! I have been focusing on my entries as I believe them to be the hardest and most important part of drifting. Anyway I am now starting to slide earlier in the corners than I have in the past. However, this has exposed that I need more power so that I can continue the slide right the way through till the exit and link till the next turn. Barbegello doesn't lend any favours with this either as most of it's corners are quite long... Anyway considering how close to factory the car is thats really no suprise!

There was also an oppertunity to have 2 of the drift australia drivers ride with me to see if they had any pointers which I took. Borneo said I had good car control and in order to get much better I would need to upgrade the suspension, diff and power. Jimmah said much the same but also gave me some hints as to line for Barbegello which helped heaps, but it was just as I had run out of space on my video camera! :(

The car performed fantastically! it was a 30 degree day, with very little cloud cover and the coolent temps never exceeded 93 degrees. I think that is fantastic as many of the cars much less renouned for cooling problems (skylines & ceferios etc) were running above 100 all day. The car took everything I did all day and didn't complain once.

My tyres did however and unfortunately I had to finish the day early as I had run out of tyres vice time. Still I had plenty of time to work on my technique and I think by the next comp I enter I might be able to upset a few people who don't think I can do well due the type of car I use :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:

Drift is a funny thing really, Ive found the best way to enter a slide is to actually use the foot brake or a sudden lift off of the accellerator combined with a turn in. Really its quite different to the techniques you find most people talking about (ie planting the right foot or using the hand brake). Im really looking forward to making changes to the setup of the car to help make it more predictable and more stable in the slide. Realistically I have only made major changes to the radiator and clutch, and the HICAS is still fully functional. I think that just shows how capable the Z is right from the factory floor.

Enough of the talk, Im sure you guys just want to see some evidence! I managed to get some footage which I put on youTube so here it is: Clicky Clicky

Glad you made it out there on Saturday mate! We tried to make it out on the track with our R32 drift car but unfortunately we received the wrong intake manifold during the week and we didn't have enough time to source a new one and tune it.... Guess we'll just have to wait for next practice day!

Thats excellent Zzz ! Adam (Borneo) is a great driver(and nice bloke :) ), you are lucky to have had him in the car with you.

Below are DA's top 8 drifters, Borneo is on the far left :) The 3 drivers on the right are top 3, Fernando, Robbie and Christian and they have just represented Australia in the World D1 GP at Irwindale USA, first time we had Aussie drifters competing against the worlds best.Very exciting stuff!! Drift is growing soooo fast.

Borneo was helping Robbie with setting up our Zed earlier in the year before the Queensland DA round. I didn't get to see him in it, it was before I got up there but Robbie said Borneo had it drifting beautifully. Wild looking dude he is! lol

Thats Borneo & Matt at the DA final

We have the last DA NSW State Comp round next Saturday with the DriftZ and then thats it till Calder in February :).

Im looking forward to the WA round next year, I have never seen Barbagallo :) WA drift scene is going nuts, SlideFX Drift Team will be a force to be reckoned with, they have signed up Danny Vahoumis(Denzo) for 08.

We hope to have another Z32 out drifting by Feb 08. With me behind the wheel and zero drift experience, I'm hoping it wont be too painful to watch.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Suspension is fine, I have been out to about 4 of these events now and its holding up its end of the bargin no problems! However I should be buying some tein flex coil-overs early next year, so that should make a huge difference!

LOL, if your talking about the car I was following for the video thats a ceffy and that guy's heaps better than me, I think he was just trying to show off for the camera!

Yeah, he looks pretty wild, but he's actually really quite, I was pretty happy with the most of the comments he made, he didn't say anything negative about my driving, only suggesting the upgrades I need to install... One bad one though was when I first took off he said "Hasn't got much go does it..."
    :(

Hopefully Im still around then, ill try and show you the lines I use then you can just work on it through practice! Id love to have a drive of a properly prepared car.... (hint hint!)

    Its really not that dangerous...

You can honestly see these things developing when your driving behind, so before someone spins you'll realise they are going to about 5 or so seconds before which is HEAPS of time to plan where to go and get ready for it

the more likely time to damage your car is if you spin yourself and run into something, I have seen about 5 cars hit the wall just after the first corner, so its a matter of driving to your limits and not trying to over extend your abilities.

On a separate note, its weird driving with a whole bunch of people watching you, I had some mates taking photos and at one point I went to wave at them and nearly spun, lol... Drive well first, then you can devote the extra brain space to acting like a dickhead... lol
