I recently installed new 02 sensors and new temp sensor plug, Doesnt seem to help fuel consumption and irratic idle. Also cleaned PTU plugs. how do i reset ECU???
battery leave battery disconnected for over 1 hour. This however, only clears the self learn. It does not clear any error codes. Cheers
Easiest way is to find someone with datascan / conzult. Alternatively start the car from off 25 times (I think it's 25). 25 starts with no error codes clears any earlier error codes. Firstly though, you should can check what error codes you have. You can do this with a paperclip in the ECU plug near the bonnet release lever. I think there is an article on this in the Tech Section. Cheers, Peter
thats a painful way to do it ,ive never heard of the 25 start ups method ,agree with the datascan method though
Yep, ECU only keeps error codes for the last 25 starts (I'm sure it's not 50). So if you have 25 clear starts, then code 55. I proved this many years ago with my grey Zed, before I had datascan (probably before datascan), clearing a code 34 after having installed the 1 Mega OHM resistor. It works. Cheers, Peter
To get rid of the error code go into mode 1 ECU errors, then go out. To do this short out the two pins on the datascan connector near the driver's side door. That gets you into the ECU diag. Whilst the engine light is blinking at you short out those two connections again. The engine light will go back to being hard on. You have reset your ECU.
