Of course I realize. As Ive said in a previous post, no doubt DOHC is better as it should be being the next in line. And serious head work is done on any engine making big power, you're wasting your time otherwise. If the word "custom" scares someone, then the Z31 isn't for them. There are no pretty bolt on performance kits on ebay with a pink ribbon on top like there are for most other cars. Back in the day you could get a twin turbo kit, intercooler kit, exhaust kit and so on but with age the high demand for these kits is gone so they get discontinued.

Being custom is what makes these cars special in my opinion, any monkey can bolt on a ready made kit. You dont see alot of modified Z31's around these days because it is a little bit trickier due to the custom work needed and it takes a bit of thought. But it saves the average ricer with mummys credit card from modifying them which is another bonus! lol And even being custom, it'll still be cheaper to get done than some of the bolt on stuff for other cars if you have good contacts and even cheaper if you're handy with a welder! ;)

Here's some shots of a friends setup to see what some guys are doing in the Z31 world.

Custom tapered log style intake plenum, front mount 90mm throttle body.

Custom manifold with relocated front mount GT42R turbo (supports 1000hp)

Try fitting that turbo in the engine bay of a DET! lol The proof is in the pudding, there are street legal Z31's out there running 8's and 9's down the 1/4 mile! How fast do you really want to go? lol There are definate pros and cons for each, but the original VG30ET paved the way and can still make axle snapping power! :)

Sorry 300zxt but I gotta say this.....

Since your a man of many opinions and sometimes harsh comments and directional criticism. Can you please start a post showcasing your car, your mods, your pics etc...

I want this whole community to have a input on your ride, things you've done and the hiccups you've come across. Because you seem to have your nose in every post when sometimes what you say is not needed.

Keep in mind by no means is this intended to offend you.

    :)

dude it seems u know a bit about the z31's and thats great but if you didnt come across as such a cocksmith people would really respect you. Try and get your point across without burning people. that is not the spirit of the forum. What seems obvious to you may not be to someone else and remember that there is always someone who knows more than you do. thats life.

Its great to be passionate about a particular engine, but try to be objective too.

9.58 to be exact for this particular car, almost street legal I should say minus the wheelie bar lol! ;)

I dont intend to be harsh, as some most likely dont intend to be soft! ;) Ive been conversing with NewbieZ31 over PM more specifically about his troubles so butt out regarding that. Dont be offended either *sike* lol. Anyway I didnt even say anything bad in my shit, I'm blunt and lazy so live with it! hehe

Anyway to the point, my current project car is out of state. Current mod list is fairly modest at the moment, as I only had the car 6 months before I moved and it's in storage right now.

    Team Green air filter
Custom 3" mandrel bent turbo-back exhaust, no cat
    GFB blow-off valve
    Front mounted intercooler (600mm x 300mm x 76mm)
    Autometer boost & oil gauges
    HKS turbo timer
    SR20DET 60mm throttle body
    Turbosmart manual boost controller
    MOMO racing steering wheel
    Russ's adjustable cam gears
    Gutted intake plenum
Flex-a-lite black magic 15" electric fan

Having 4 cars is taxing on the wallet, I just laid out 5k on various mods for my new beast my black 89T. Poly everything, exhaust, new wantanabe wheels I found in Japan and so on. Search, there are pics somewhere. I have project specific cars infact. My 89T is currently (and soon to be even more) my quick street car. The 86T (engine bay pictured above) is my purpose built dragster and it's completely gutted awaiting a transbrake auto and live rear axle and cage not even counting forgies, turbo, fuel and too much else to list. Big moola$$$ to complete a long term project like that, plus it's hard when the car is 3,000kms away too lol. I could only bring up my 89T and 88T when I moved, and the 88T is the daily driver although I'm favouring the 89T too much cuz its so fun to drive! :)

89T is on it's way to becoming a quick beast aswell, t3/t3 turbo in the future for that. Modest 420cc injectors and so on. Just enough to be fun on the road without getting too insane. I hope to get the 86T back up here by the new year to continue on my proper beast! $1000 for transport alone! :(

Any more pics at request! I should make a gallery but that requires effort! lol My site is usually up but Ive been lazy with the redesign. I think it was WA300Z who PM'ed me before asking for pics. I have a few...

In addition to what i said in my other post, and im not having a swipe at you here, your information is more than welcome but there should be no competition between z31's and z32's, in my opinion a Z32 TT pisses on a z31 in most area's so i really dont think u should compare.

having said that, keep the info coming

I wasn't even comparing, proof you didn't read much of what I wrote. I continously said the the DOHC is better. I was talking specifically in regards to NewbieZ31 and financial costs for him right now when fixing his car mechanically (pending the damage isnt extremely bad) wouldn't be difficult.

Ive always wanted a JDM 2 seater hard top Z32 actually, that's probably the only one I'd really jump on. Tub the rear end and slap in a ford 9" and off to Willowbank Raceway we go! LOL

Maybe one day if I'm made of money! hehe

whats street legal on that 9.5 sec z31? even your project z31 which will probably run 12's isnt street legal..
WTF man.. street legal means <90db and passing all emissions, wheels that comply within 2" of originals not 25" slicks

hate the way people say "its a 4 second street legal funny car/door slammer"
just cause it can physicaly be driven on the street does not make it street 'legal' the epa would have a fkn field day with that thing and most likely put their kids through private schooling.

Just to clear the air, zxt did seem to be a dick at first. Although, after I addressed that, he turned out to be very knowledgable and only too happy to help me out.

Hehe, the 88T (white car) is especially clean. I found that car for sale parked under a tree covered in leaves with only 135,000kms on the clock. It's literally like new, I'm not modifying that car but leaving it as a fine stock example. My girl usually drives it around! lol I have modest plans for the black one, but it's already a real blast to drive.

    300ZR's had VG30DE's

300ZR's with the twin cam heads were not turbo.

Yeah you're right, splitting hairs though. It's the same engine which is the point...

yeah, splitting hairs. there's not much difference between a vg30de and a vg30det, or a vg30dett for that matter. lets just say all 300zr's had vg30de triple turbos and flux capacitors. entirely not true, but the point is I had an onion in my belt, which was the style at the time. Anyway we were going over to Morganville, which is what we called Shelbyville in them days. Did I mention I had an onion in my belt....

Dude, when are you going to fix your website?
