For those that have 99 spec front bars, here is a mod you may like to do :zlove: I found the tinted indicators did not match the clear foglights ,so i tinted the foggies. Its a simple mod,all you do is take the fog light apart, pull the guts out, spray it black, put it back together, and there you have it 2 tips 1/ Use plastic paint on the plastic housing, use heat proof paint on the reflector 2/Use black silicon when re sealing the lens,if you use clear,it will yellow over time and will leave a white ring at the front of the lens, black will leave a black ring which looks alot better They dont match at all As you can see ,they are totally different tinted  The finished product,it looks alot nicer i think and now matches the indicators :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
Well it is mostly illegal to use them anyways so it doesn't matter they are completey useless with not much light getting through. This will probably fix itself after you'ver had them on for a while and the paint has burned off. So don't use them, even in the fog and you'll be right.
Well firstly i have hids,so foglights are next to useless ,and secondly ,read above ,i used heatproof paint, but thanks for your concern stef (and japspec have them on with the headlights, well most of us have them wired that way !!)
Just a small question Simon. How the Hell do you expect your Fog Lights to function, when you have effectively removed the reflector? Black surfaces absorb light, they do not reflect it.:bash::zlove: My Parkers come on with the Headlights. My Fogs come on with the Foglight switch(anything else is defect city).:zlove:
Once again,i have hids, the foglights do no more than act as parkers If i was relying on the foggies for light,im in big trouble, its been done purely for matching the 99 spec corners, not to improve light efficiency
look awsome,, now for us with no h.i.d's they are usefull, so have you noticed any difference in light from them since there is not shiny backing to project the light? if not id like to do this to my foggies and the indicators...
Thanks Chad,at least someone gets what im doing I havent had it out at night yet,but I just plugged them in and they are nicely lit up My foglights have had the glare guard removed which makes them bright for a start and i also have put in my old 55 watt headlight globes in them,so they are brighter than stock anyway :zlove: Alot of the U.S zeds have done this mod, which is where i got the idea from in the first place,it looks very hot on a black zed
Don't fog lights sort of point down so as not to reflect off fog? Though i guess there isn't much fog over there??? (here in Perth we sometimes get very foggy mornings). In that situation the HID's would basically be useless yeah?
crazy.... i was thinking how i was goinig to match my foggies with my indicators.... i was thinking bout using the spray tint on the inside of the plastic which alows the reflector to still work but i figured it may look weird... i might have to copy u now as it looks alot nicer... good 1 simon...
as a cosmetic matching job, they look tops, si .. like you, i have 55W globes in my foggies (no colour mod) .. work well ... ..still throwing balls in the air re hids ... the 6000K blue tinge is an issue for me ...
off topic first but man i couldnt stop laughing at ur sig......did u chat up the cops for that or something.....or maybe in trouble.... anywho i thought the reverse would be better simon....ie. get the indicators cleared......if im not wrong did u bring up a tech or atleast a post of someone clearing the 2k indicators by repainting the inside? btw i want pics....lol....especially of the headlights you resprayed black....
hahha...the one with the cop cars...was just the way the coppas parked at maccas so i parked in between like a smart ass(note the cop car behind my car aswell)... the other photo was at another maccas about 2 weeks later... that van thng is really a tank...it had a turret on the roof WTF... all windows were bulletproof and the the whole thing was like tank armour..
Looks good Simon! What heatproof paint did you use! I dont have foggies so it would be used for the indicators, Thanks Mattb
What do you mean "I don't have foggies"? You don't have a front on your Zed(if I remember correctly):biggrin::biggrin::zlove: A couple of coats of "Anti-Collision" paint would be more appropriate for your car Matty.
Im still putting my bodykit on ,but here is a pic of one done ,they are a perfect match I was going to clear the 99 spec indcators, but im stuffed if i can open them up to do it,but since ive done this ,its growing on me,looks hot :zlove: I think we can both admit, the standard fogs just dont do it with the smoked 99 lights I also have a thread where i painted the inserts of the headlights black, looks great, thread was a couple of days ago Im also thinking of doing the same thing to the rear sidemarkers and front side indicators, but im trying to work out how to open the front sides,im not into the smoked look, but this tinted look is the way to go with black zeds imo (simply spray the insides of anything you want to have the tinted look, very easy and effective mods to do )
simon...can u post a pic with the parkers and then with foggies??? sorry to bust ur balls but then we will be able to see how much removing the reflector does affect the lights... i cnat wait to do mine...
