Targa roof leaking water..pls help

hi guys,

My targa roof is leaking water from the windows side whenever it rains.

may be seal or what:bash:

any solutions

 

dont go out in the rain, check the drain hole in the targa well.. if water cant get through there it maybe coming in the car

 

hmmm is there seal for it I can buy somewhere?

hi do a quick search using Targa roof leaking brings up all sorts of fixes:biggrin:

 

theres drain plugs in the top sill,get an air compressor and give it a blow,you may find its clogged up with crap
Then pour some water in the sill and see if it drains from around the bottom of the doors,if it does,they are all clear

 

Easy fix.....where your targa rubber strip meets the windscreen rubber, if you peel back the targa rubber you'll find an access hole in the rubber where a screw attaches the rubber to the frame... make up a cigarette size (or bigger if need be) piece of old tyre tube into a rolled-up length then insert into the access hole behind the targa rubber (you'll probably be able to see where the rubber is slightly depressed from the glass window at that point). When inserted and released the rubber tube unwinds and holds out the targa rubber to give a better seal.

 

there was a great thread afew months back...i cant find it thou......what also causes it to leak is the rubber between ur door window and the targa.........from memory the guy lifted the glass somehow so it would close a little higher, and put something behind the rubber so it would sit flush with the door window.....

 

Might have been a comment I made with previous posts about the leaking targa 'cure'... the lifting was to take the door glass a bit higher on door closure by adding a washer (or two, depending how much the door had dropped... and they do with age!) behind the lower attachment hinge, which lifts the door slightly and helps the upper glass seal.

 

I had a leaky targa that is all fixed up now. I took my usual shotgun approach and did everything i could think of;
- Replace the targas
- Blow out the drain holes with a thinner and an air gun
- replenish the roof targa seals with baby oil.


That seemed to fix it
