Im thinkin of doing my own 5000k services. The car has travelled 35k since a 100k service was done, so another 35k and i will do another 100k. The car has travelled a total of 109k.I have a 5spd TT. Now apart from an oil & filter change, connector check, what else do you guys recommend. How often do you change brake fluid, radiator fluid, power steer fluid, diff oil? The car is running fine although i do need to reset the idle about 50 - 100rpm lower. Would anyone recommend a magnetic sump plug? Are they worth it? Cheers
5000k, 35k, 100k, 35k, 100k, 109k You're confusing the heck out of me Bruce? 1: Brake Fluid doesn't need changing unless it is cloudy in colour(possible contamination, or water in the fluid). 2: Radiator Coolant should be completely flushed out and replaced at least once a year(mixing new coolant with older, contaminated coolant, will render the new stuff ineffective immediately, as far as the rust inhibitor function is concerned). 3: Power Steering Fluid doesn't need changing unless it is obviously dirty looking or cloudy in colour. 4: Magnetic Sump Plug is fine if it isn't too long(do a SEARCH on this subject) there were some problems a while ago re a GB (I think).:zlove::zlove:
magnetic sump plug ... a firm called 'just jap' sold these to forum members at a"special" price of $18.00 about 18 months back .. they didn't fit ...(diameter issue i think).. mine ended up as a great pick up tool... there is a seller on aus-ebay (samcha..???) selling them at the moment...might try them out as the idea is fine ...
