hey guys did some work on a zed on the weekend changed nearly all connectors in the engine bay injector, CAS, IACV, AAC, IGN coils, TPS, Coolant temp sensor the car ran fine before i changed these now it runs really rough, first it wouldnt crank over at all (until we changed the cas plug) it seems like its running on 5 cyl, checked all injectors/ign coils they are fine, still has a miss and runs like shit timing may be out i didnt have a timing light to check but will be doing this next no error codes (shows code 55 after replacing coolant temp sensor) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. also the power light for the auto trans flashes about 10 times when you turn the key to accessory and when the engine starts the "lights" warning light shows up (its red and is on the left hand side of the instrument cluster)
Identify which cyclinder is not firing by either datascan load test or by pulling each coil pack connector one at a time until there is no change. Then you can determine if it is spark or fuel that is the problem on that cylinder. Base idle timing with CAS will not make the car run on five cyliders, even if it was all the way adjusted to one side, will just make it idle fast or slow. If you attempted to change the connectors with the battery still connected there may have been a short and the ECU has been damaged, has been done before. Flashing POWER light indicates an auto transmission fault, run the diagnostic procedure in the tech section to find the fault code. The LIGHTS warning indicates that one of the rear tail lights or brake light bulbs is out. The light should not be on if the lights are off and the brakes off.
ok checked all , changed the rear injector connectors (cyl 5 and 6) runs a bit better when d/c the number 6 coil pack there is no change, but however when you put a spark plug into the coil pack and earth it on the plenum it has spark, the car is really hard to start when its cold, any more suggestions ??
more possible culprits that we have seen in the shop to cause rough running: - faulty CAS - faulty PTU - faulty alternator
I have had that problem once before to Adam, turned out to be a very sad plug. Put another one in and presto. It wasn't on mine either and the guy had only changed the plugs 10000KM's ago. Pull one from your car and try it. Still maybe injector related too. Do some more investigation on the connector and use a screwdriver to listen for the injector pulsing but if it was working before you played with it should still be alright.
thanks thanks forgot to mention, CAS has been cleaned up, and connector replaced the car was running perfect before i changed the connectors
DId you change the PTU connectors too. You running a series 1 or 2. If you messed with the coolant temp you may have knocked the plug on the PTU or something. You havent inadvertantly knicked any wires or anything while changing plugs to cause an earth out. I have done that one before
id check the injector plug that the cyl is missing on and clean the injector terminals better. those back ones are hard to get into. also if its the normal black injector PLUGS u fitted, did you remember to cut the wings off so the plug clears the fuel rail.. just a thought
Sounds like injector connector for #6 if you have spark. Make sure you've got it wired up correctly and also check resistance across the terminals.
check all the fuses first similar thing to my car, didn't realise i had blown a fuse, sounded like a wrx, running on 5, simply a blown fuse
