Hi all , my Z has not left the driveway for about 2 months now. This morning I thought I would start it up and let it run for a while to charge up the battery and lube everything up. This led me to discover two things of slight concern that I would like opinions on.

1: On start up my right and left exhaust produced a quantity of whiteish smoke which gradually stopped on the left side but remained a bit longer on the right side.Definately improved as the engine warmed. Is there reason for concern? the car did wind over for some time priming fuel before it fired and sounded a little flooded/rich for want of a better word once it fired.

2: After leaving it idling for a little while I noticed a loudish ticking coming from under the bonnet.opened hood and gave engine a rev and tick goes away, once back on idle for a while tick returns.Suspected oil not getting to valve train at idle in sufficent amount??.Only just recently changed oil to a 15-50shell helix fully systhetic , not sure what used to be in it.Or maybe something has become sticky by sitting for a couple of months?.

    Feedback appreciated

    Agree

ticking is the lifters. The smoke or vapor, should clear after
driving for a wile. If it dose not clear, check the 02's. Not a problem imo.

I would recommend a complete flush of your oil as you stated it had not been run for 2 months...the first time my car overheated it ticked from having to much oil around the Lifters, once the flush has been done load her up with castrol magnatec and a new oil filter and that should fix it....i have only used magnatec and never had a problem lubracation wise....

lifter 'tick' is 100% normal after 2 months

of inactivity. It will quiet down with some use. Exhaust smoke sounds normal again for such a long period of inactivity.

Best advice = drive it more often!

Thanks for the replies , seems harmeless. I really should take it for a spin down the coast soon and blow the cobwebs out.

Yes it does sound hamless, even mine sounds like this when I dont drive it for 2 weeks. Now that im driving it everyday theres no more ticking sound and smokes back to normal levels.
