    red32 You talkin' to me?

    VERY CAREFULLY!
Use cloths with a minimum of cleaning fluids/degreasers on them, do small areas at a time. Do NOT use spray cleansers (I managed to kill a CAS by doing this). The only way you can clean "down deep" (eg cam covers, etc) is to remove at least the upper plenum. Keep any liquids away from the coil-connectors, and other plug junctions. An old toothbrush is also very useful.
    Have fun!

    Gerni - plastic bag - air blower - WD40.

Cover cas and PTU best you can with platic bag. Degrease wherever you like and hit with a gerni. Air blast excess water from crevaces etc after (give it a good going over) then spray all over with WD or CRC. Comes up a treat.
    Done plenty of them...no probs.
    :)

CAS= Crank Angle Sensor (silver circluar/star sort of thing on passenger side of engine)
PTU- power transistor unit- not sure where it would be on your car as they sometimes move it.
WD- WD40, the cleaning spray in a blue and yellow can?
    CRC- another heavy duty cleaner
Cover the cas and ptu. Don't just spray the engine bay, use a small spray can of degreaser and spray small areas and scrub with a brush. After that i had a damp towel and wiped over all the areas I degreased.
If you spray the entire engine bay you'll get water in alsorts of places and risk corroding some connections.
I only degreased the top of the plenum, cleaned the fan shroud and timing belt plastic covers with a similar product to armourall and then cleaned the painted areas where the struts mount with a damp rag.

I got lazy one day and sprayed the whole engine with a degreaser, hosed it off with the garden hose....................stayed in direct sunlight for 4 hours. Lucky I didnt break anything.

result? (didnt touch the battery and the sides.............again too lazy and the sun was way too hot for my liking)
