Went to bob jane to get my wheel alignment yesterday.....

oh wait hahaha my car is too low for them to align.... so they said

'we'll just take the front bar off'

'ummmmmm where does it end (damn 1 piece)"

he explained it to me but i've forgotten.. why would you take a front bar off to align it...

Coz their machine has to shoot a beam across the front of the car from one wheel clamp to the other. When the front bar is too low the beam is blocked so their crappy machine won't work.

yeah but my front is still legal height believe it or not... they must have alot of trouble with alot of cars then......

but i do remember the guy talking then stepping back and going

'holy **** its dumped on its ass!'

The way I understand it is: The things that they put on the wheels need line of sight with the other side because it uses a laser to determent when they are parallel to each other so if ur car is 2 low it cant work as the car is in the way

I have the same problem but tom took it to his local guy and got my wheels lined up for me so they probably have the lowering kit that lets them do lower car (its just an attachment that lowers the laser)

the reason why they would want to take of the front bar is that the car may just be high enough with out the front bar to pass the laser underneath

I had my wheels aligned a couple of weeks ago, it was fiddly and the guys spent a fair bit of time and used spanners to bend the moulding up to get line of sight, but they managed to do it ok. My Zx has a standard front end setup.

yep he had a drop bar thing to lower the laser... but he said it came to about 250mm off the ground....

how many cars have that much clearance..

I have to remove my front bar...

The main reason - other than the lasers, is that I can't drive it up onto the machine

An mines only ablout 10mm lower than std, with a UAS front bar.....:D

Yeah same - after I fitted my teins I couldn't get it aligned because they coudln't drive the front bar over the ramp for the machines

My car wasn't too much lower than stock - that freaking Explosion front bar that I had was designed to make a stock car look like it was lowered!

    this thread is crap.

    i do STI's, 300zx's, ankles (which are lower than a c@nt)
on my alignment machine all day everyday.
My 300zx went up the ramp anyday (was stock, no arguement there, )
my assistant Manager has a dumped STI it flys up my hoist, camera's -no problems

my fitter has a dumped S pack Vx, gets up there (slowly) and the camera's work fine.
Another of my fitters has a R33 GTsT dumped, no dramas what soever.

which bob jane did you take it to, post whore?

Bring it to me...i'll do it.

as long as your wheels don't sink under the guards it wont be a problem.

no, ur crap dude... bob jane in cannington couldnt do it... neither could the specialists WA suspension who i just came from... it took them 2 hours to get brads PHATT on there and they just couldnt get mine on... maybe as i have a longer wheel base the front didnt lift fast enough..

i'll be in melbourne in a week, feel free to do it then, and yes the wheels are in the arches

the tape measure goes from the top of the tyre
