ls1's fit into the zeds easier than rb26dett's.
i dont know how well you did at maths but most children know a v8 is shorter than a straight six, and being only a single cammed push rod with no turbos attatched to the side, or a twin throttle bodied plenum, makes it also THINNER than the vg30dett, a single $1000 cam, with $2000 spent on exhaust/intake/edit and you've got 300rwkw, shits on an rb26dett.

seriously blade check it out, plenty of zeds with ls1's being documented on the web, check out hybridz.com

Your right reving an engine in a video does not tell you much, but if thats what he wants to do then so be it. For your information the tacho is not accurate and reads higher by about 10% so he was reving no where near 8000rpm but more like 6700rpm. The temperature gauge is an even more obvious one and doesn't tell you much in any case.

Either way any one buying this engine would want some sort of insurance such as seeing the car run or having particular tests like compression, leakdown, hydro carbon all the common problems with a zed. Thats a hell of a lot more insurance then buying any used engine. Even if your intentions were to look out for fellow members which i doubt, your input has no relevance given the ignorant comments you are making. So why don't you stay out of this thread.

    Cheers
    Pat

looks like i might need to take that engine off your hands now that apparently i got carbon build up in mine and its gonna cost me nearly as much as dropping a new one in. So if you could get a full mechanical report from gavin wood with all the tests then we can start talking buisness. you havent replied to my PM but my numbers 0405763963

Can't they run that de-gunker through it? Costs about $100, I've seen a few Skylines get the treatment before.

yeah kerosine mixed with a bit of oil, im trying that now but theres a risk of it either moving the shit to somewhere else in the engine or the valves screwing up and it snapping the crack and chucking a rod which means my engines pretty much ruined. Im giving the kero a go but its not 100%

what are the symptoms of carbon build up?

yeah kero didnt work, but it didnt screw up while doing it so thats ok. So blade get back to me aye, Umm in responce to r33k, my engine just started running really rough like REALLY rough, you can just tell it shakes and makes really bad noises, its just not good. Makes you feel really bad inside for your Zed. Ohh well guess shes not drivable for a while and i dont have a car as i just sold my daily driver :D Awesome!

Have you done all the other stuff like cleaning throttle bodies, checking electrical connections, checking error codes. Have you had a compression test done yet?

    yeah done all that

There's an old mechanics trick for curing carbon buildup. Not sure if you could work out how to apply it to a zed though....
Rev the thing to about 5 grand while a mate slowly puts a handful of rice in the air intake. The rice is soft and does no damage to the metal but is hard enough to remove most of the carbon.

not sure that they would go so well through a turbo though

        Turbo cooked rice? Not sound good ok

Can't you take your Z to get a "carbon clean". We have several licenced carbon clean franchises over here in WA, and I belive that they do exactly what thier name says. My older brother took my dads old alfa romeo there many years ago to get the engine carbon cleaned, for no other reason that the car was just old :D The alfa ran far better afterwards, though it had no discerable problems beforehand.

I realise that this is a bit simplistic, but you may want to give it a try.

yeah i dunno aye, the mech says the best way to clean it is engine out and then strip it down to manually clean it. And when your doing all that labour it doesnt really seem worth it when i need to do a full plenum pull and rebuild the turbos and engine soon anyway. Thats why im serriously interested in this guys engine. LOL actually dont you love this forum isnt about him selling the engine anymore? Hahaha its been about why an LS1 is better than a RB26 and now onto whats wrong with my car. Haha not really what he had in mind but then again i havent heard from him....
