    hey guys,
i gotta new gear boot to replace the existing one. the problem is i cant get the gear knob off. its meant to screw off anti clockwise like normal. but iv used wd40, got the next door neighbours having a go at it, mechanic across the road who is a weightlifter and we can only get it to move 1/4 of a turn :):):). any advice is welcome to get this prick of a thing off(keeping in mind i dont want to wreck it). cheers

Maybe pull out the whole shifter so you don't damage anything in the gearbox when twisting the shaft. This is pretty easy and I would then put it in a vice or something like that. If your gear knob is aftermarket, make sure it isn't using grub screws to hold it on.

Well, I'd pull out the shifter and put it in a vice than use vice grips on the gear knob to unscrew it. You could put rags around both so as not to damage tham

You can?t get the shifter out of the car without removing the knob or the exhaust + driveshaft? Get a towel and a pair of multigrips and go crazy
