does anyone think that our zeds are gonna start rising in resale price instead of deprecating every week??

    maybe

yep,if we can stop p platers getting hold of them  ,trashing them  ,doing no maintenance  and then selling them off as el cheapo's  ,there is hope i think !! ;) ;) ;) :zlove:
a good zed thats not been vandalised is becoming harder and harder to find and they will be the ones that fetch a good $$$,so in essence the more screwed zeds around the better it is for us who have good ones

ive been looking at zeds for a few years now, and in my opinion they are starting to increase in price...

there is HEAPS of pieaces of shit down the bottom rung of the ladder, but its hella hard to find a good one for a good price, your flat out gettin a nice zed for under 15k now, any under that usually got problems n what not.

    I belive so

Well as it stands now there is an import ban on anything older than 10 years old and because many of the resonably priced zeds are older than 1997 and also due to the fact that the NA version is NSW/Vic P-plate legal, entiltlin many young blokes to purchase them and thus the price of the zed 'should' rise. as the demand increases. but i could be wrong

Yep now the imports have virtually stopped coming in there might be a chance. Eventually like lots of other formerly expensive cars (Porsche 928 are like this), a lot of the poor quality ones become too expensive to fix and are broken up for parts. The better quality or better maintained ones then hold their price.

Not really sure if a TT 300ZX needs to be an expensive car to maintain as long as you show some care driving them. And keep them away from greedy specialists. Depreciation should not be too much of a factor.

New P-Plate laws coming into effect in QLD

With these new laws coming in there's gonna be alot less demand for older turbo cars I believe :( Good in a way but bad in others.

    My recent experience

I recently bought cheap because the owner got a new car, and wanted to give the z to his son who is a p plater. He couldn't drive it so they had to get rid of it to pay for a car his son could legally drive (and afford to insure).

Insurance Co's are quite worried about theft with them. That could b another reason people don't want z's.

The Ford I had till now dropped by over half in value when the petrol price was high not so long ago. People get quite emotional about fuel prices and dont easily forget paying $150/litre. Yet another turn-off for z's, especially the TT's.

Reading this forum before you buy gets a bit scary too!!!:(
Dont forget to write posts when your car is running great and you love it, not just when youve got problems.

    Z prices

I have noticed that there a Z 's advertised in carsales.com.au that has been unsold for 2 years, those Z's are the ones selling for higher than normal, assuming that they are in good condition good to see that the owners are not droping there prices and not coming down. All it takes is one buyer. You pay for what you get in most cases

dunno where your looking. i bought my na 1 year and a half ago and i bought it for 14k complied, rego'd, etc, etc. There are TT's going for 10k and lots going for about 8k.

Any $8 and $10k TT's someones losing money. You could not import a decent one, comply and register it for that. But perhaps with the quantity here that's what some people feel they have to price them at to sell.

You always lose money on a car. You buy a $40k car, drive it out of the showroom and it has dropped like $5k. Most people spending $14k and selling for $8k 2-3 years later would expect that sort of loss.

Don't forget too that our cars are getting older and would on average be getting worse and worse.

you drive a car out of showroom it will loose at least $10k.

    $5k for mark up
    $5k for depreciation
more for GST and Expenses if the dealership are pricks.

"why would you drive such a fine machine for only 5,000kms then return it, i suspect you've done something to it, we better have a full check over it at your cost before we decide to trade it in and give you a price."

I used to work for Saab. but for saab it was buy a $60k car, return it in 5,000kms $30k
    good car, bad dollar!

ps, i bought my Zed for 17k spent near 30k on it, sold it for 12,500. If quickzx comes this weekend (GOR cruise) then you'll see my old beast.

PPS history of violence is a crap film

There is a lot of factors working against the Z.

    Maintenance costs.
Yeah it competed in the market with Porsche and even Ferrari but it still says Nissan on the badge some even see Datsun when they look at it although many of us are to young to be bothered by that.
A lot of buyers are young, theres the P platers wrecking them problem but theres also just the enthusiasts who buy then get engaged and buy a house, they need money fast so the Z is sold cheap lowering the market.
And theres the age even if it does have styling that looks like it could have come off one of todays production lines.

On the upside I think the Z is destined to be a classic and one day when there are far fewer left the ones that have been well cared for and survived all the things working against them will be something to treasure and it will be reflected in their price.

why does every one bag out p-platers and zed's? sure there are some people who dont even change the oil in them, but to lots of us, our cars wether it be a zed or not are are life at this young age. All my money goes into repairing, maintaining and modding the zed. considering i never have any money left at the end of the week i would hope that my zed is in tip top condition and it is ;)

No chance! Buy a car is not an investment.

and if u take a loan out to buy a car it is the worst investment u can make because u make a double loost that of the interest rate plus the depreciation of the car. Just because our car gets older and fewer are around doesnt mean it will automatically go up in price because the demand decreases people dont want to buy 20 year old cars that a run down and expensive to maintain and hard to get labour done. Look at the original voltswagon beetle.

A Zed with a good maintenance history should be 15K + with no probs

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Imports + thrashing = cheap spare parts.
Keep your Zed, look after it, and the price has to rise once the import restrictions have an effect.

Whats wrong with P platers getting hold of them ? im a P plater, i dont trash it and i do maintanence on it.
Most P platers just arent as enthusiastic as me about the Z or any other car. This forum is probably responsible for all the love i have for the Z :zlove:
