i recently acquired my first Zed and i love it....NA 2+2.....few lil probs i have to save up to fix but after that i wanted to keep the NA....i dont know every1 seems to go turbo so i thought i would just try and be different and make mine (in the future of course as i am broke ) as big a NA monster as i can. By now you probably guessed im a go before show kinda guy and just wanted some advice on what i could do to it in the event a rich aunty i dont know about dies and leaves me her fortune
yeah i would be interested if someone knows somewhere which lists good mods for N/A as stage 1 2 3 etc.
Several Sites have this info for both turbo and NA UAS at http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/300zx_story.htm Ulimate Z at http://www.ultimatez.com/stages.html Twin Turbo Net at http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1719086&forum=general&dtSearch=1 Cheers Tim
thanx guys wow that was a quick response....i take it to UAS for all my work anyways so i guess ill just ask them next time im in....just curious as to some ppls opinions on the matter
Haha, there website says they are a "SPECIALIST SUPPLIERS OF THE 300SX TWIN TURBO". Too bad they don't supply for the 300ZX hey?
I've got an NA and if there is one thing I've seen thus far is the no matter the amount of mod's you put on an NA you still won't get all that close to a TT. Some people like the purity of an NA motor, but if your really a "go before show" kinda guy then I would save your cash and simply invest in a TT. Guys that have done the conversion end up putting a fair bit of money into it and so far shifter is the only member that really seems to have done it correctly and maximised the potential of the engine whilst being economical (still spent a small fortune though....). A few guys have looked at supercharging, but once again...expensive. If you want go and you want something a bit different why not chuck an LS2 in or something...I know a few guys are dying to see this happen...just waiting for the guinea pig! To start you off though, 100K service then follow that list from TTZed....Pod Filter, Exhuast (extractors and Hi-flow cats) and a tune (just chuck in a SAFC-II or a NEO) should get you running fairly nicely.
I was reading posts on here... and most ppl said that unless im going to continuously tune it it would be easier/cheaper to just get my ecu chipped....what do u guys reckon SAFC or just chip it?
Chipping is a lot of mucking around to get a good reliable tune, much better to go for a SAFC IMHO. Or better yet a full aftermarket ECU or piggyback system (what I am going to do )
wow 400hp to stage 3 on a turbo and only up to 250hp on an N/A by the same stage and cost too I imagine.
B/SHIZNIT! You obviously haven't seen how hard AZA's Na goes... that thing is seriously like it is hitting boost. It just takes off like a rocket ship and pulls the TT's back towards him. Definitely an NA Inpsiration.... Could help that the guy can drive really well also! Fate
im not looking for huge gains i just want something with a fair bit of grunt that will smoke any lil idiots out there....which i do frequently anyways....all hail the Zed.....but yeah just something nice and neat with some grunt to drive around normally
i just looked it up alot of ppl are saying that the NEO is better and i just checked and it seems to be cheaper too....for some reason im sceptical of things that are cheaper and apparently better so is it true?
If you plan to change settings often then the NEO will be better. It just fools the ECU from memory. If you don't plan to play with the settings much, just get a socketed ECU. Costs a little more but you get alot more stuff to play with and can remove the speed limiter etc. etc.
i might go neo... i dont really just want to tune it to increase the power and thats it i want to adjust it to my driving style so that might take a lil while to figure out....id prefer a car thats predictable in its movements for the way i drive rather than that extra bit of power.....
