I'm pretty sure they were but if someone could confirm.

Did they make Auto N/A 2 Seater Targa 300s? I've looking through all the used car sites, can't find any, enough 2+2s but no 2s.

Yes they came out in that configuration.

They are rare then? I can't for the life of me find any. Might have to settle for a 2+2 or convince the powers that be to go for a manual.

    well....

in australia, only the 2+2 NA was ever sold. No 2 seater variety. But it would have been available in japan (I think).

Ok, I didnt want to do this before as I couldnt be bothered writing it all up, anyway here goes:

Australian-Spec Z's only ever came out as non-turbo, auto or manual 2 +2. Option for cruise control only.

Japanses-Spec's on the other hand came with many different configurations, 2 seater slicktops, auto or manual, tt or na.

2+2 targa, auto or manual, tt or na.

2 seater targa tops, auto or manual, tt or na. There were also the options of leather or velour interior rather than the crappy tweed, digital climate control, electronic drivers seat & cruise control.

BTW, na stands for naturally aspirated = non-turbo

Are 2 seater auto non turbo models rare? Well that depends how many have been imported, as they were never sold here in the first place as I have described above. As for getting a manual instead of an automatic - definately do it. I just cant understand why annyone would want automatic transmission in a sports car. A taxi or family car, or for the old & frail, disabled or lazy people I can understand auto, but not in a sports car FFS. Ask any of the guys on here that have done an auto to manual conversion, they all say that it is the most fun, and best "bang for buck" modification to the vehicle that they have ever made. So why not just buy a manual in the first place.

ps, dont get a non-turbo, get a well looked after twin turbo, so much more fun. i know as I used to have an na, now own a tt, and its just that much better. Just make sure that the tt isnt stuffed, as many are.

they will be rare here in OZ, basically, as 2 seater's all had to be privately [ specially] imported and then complied to some degree. The 2 seat auto NA would basically have been the model with the least desirability from the dealers/importer [profit] point of view as few people would see it as a "step up" from the local 2+2 NA. and thus not much money in it

I'm almost thinking of an auto

for battling the Sydney traffic in to from work travel. The manual is not much fun in stop start traffic, can't imagine the clutch will last terribly long. I really wanna be lazy and relaxed sitting in a traffic jam.

Now give me a windy mountain road, and it's a different matter

In melbourne 2 seater NA are not rare at all.... maybe you should come and get one from over here.

There are a few places I know who have them sitting around, maybe if you get one cheap off these fools you could fix it up. (they sell thrashed crap)

Thanks all, I'll definately be going over to Vic to get one most of the good ones in tas are all in the hands of people who won't give them up to easily so there are only high k's ones for sale.

Still going to take one from a dealer for a drive this weekend, so we'll see how the auto goes then. I just love the car the power doesn't really bother me that much, so to me its no big deal to go N/A Auto. The one I'll test drive is tt and a kind like the idea of getting a N/A up to 300hp, don't have to worry about turbos then. Doable?

Ed: the reason for the auto is because it will be shared, the other half can't drive a manual and won't learn.
