Topher how is it a no brainer for a 300 to beat a GTO??? both are pretty much the same, their high end japanese sports cars just like the supra, NSX and GTR, all are power restricted by Japanese laws and therefore perform pretty much the same in stock form. Race a stock 300zx VS a 3000GT on Gran Turismo and see what happens, 3000GT owns you off the line, but once you get going its even. The GTO is pretty much as close as you can get to a 300ZX with the added bonus of AWD. And i never said it was a N/A with 160awkw, i was saying that the ones you raced probably were.
note to ak, his car isnt 160rwkw... its 160 AWKW at all 4, power loss between drivetrains and fly can be avaraged to around 25% loss for rwd and 45% lost for awd, 15% for fwd. gtos are great cars, what year is it mate and what speed transmission??? i was considering a gto so i know abit about em, got alot of neat lil features, like switching the exhaust and suspension between track/road. only prob ive heard is they seem to break abit, but from what i could research about it, the awd system used is the same used in the early galants, which was the basis for the awd system used on the evos... so i dont see how faulty that could be, and the later ones, 1996-1998 i think, come with getrag transmissions, similiar to what supras come out with, and that is one fine gearbox. also those 1996-1998 ones run like 13.6 stock. hey what can i say i like to know about a car before i get involved with it... aaah yes, gtos are suffering the same fate as zeds, high priced cars going for far undervalue, should see all of them... constantly dropping in price. rediculous, but damn do they look cool, some a/m side skirts (doors too) look so hot. anyway a awesome car, and definatly not to be underestimated... but guys ask him for a engine bay shot, and whenever someone whinges about yours just show them his pic lol, twice as bad as a zeds.

Actually thought about getting one of these! I think it looks better than the Zed! Flame-suit is already on! Decided against it because of stories I'd heard about the AWD system being a bit fragile (same reason I decided against a Skyline), being based on the lighter EVO system, but I am certain there are enthusiasts out there who decided against a Zed because of similar (apocryphal) stories they'd heard about the turbos, handling etc! well for one we arent in a game of gran turismo. id rather race in real life then a video game.. and it was a no brainer as he had about 15psi fmic exhaust and that is all he would tell me. all i had was 3" turbo back and a pod filter. also what mods did you do to your 300? the tune must be very very very very safe if your only getting 200rwkw... we have members with about 240rwkw+ with stock turbos etc

what a joke Gran Turismo W.T.F,you need to play in real life bud and get out of the computer screen,my 4 y/old nephew is great on that game,gee he may be able to beat me on the street lol ,and he would definately woop your a*se if thats where you learned your driving skills ,as chris says,why waste your fuel ! i just love driving against kids who play computer games,because when it gets real scary,they look for the reset button,while real drivers look for more acceleration lol lol
I guess you guys have never heard of a simulation before. Pilots, Army, NASA and lots of other people use simulations for training etc etc. of course a game is never the same as the real thing but i was just proving a point that the cars are very similar and it does give you an idea of how each car performs. you laugh at me mentioning a game, but its funny to think thats its easy for you to beat a car that has very similar specs but is AWD. Maybe you should do a bit of research. I know alot of guys on here have and they know how well GTO's go and have thought about buying one.

I agree whole-heartedly!! hahaha I dragged a couple GTO's in my GSR, 2 less cylinders and 1 less turbo.. both times I won by more than a few lengths they are too heavy for any 'practicle racing' - but they are still nice cars, I always look when I see one go past
SHIT, didnt think joining you guys would cause such a fuss about it all... And as for the arguing about which car is better blah blah blah, both cars have good and bad points, as does every other car in the world.... No car is perfect and no-one is perfect !!! As far as racing cars, its more to do with driver ability and your power to weight ratio, simple as that, well in a straight line...... As far as the weight of my car exactly it is about the 1650kg mark, then the next series is 1680kg, then the last series weighs in at a hefty 1710kg.... But i didnt buy it to "Race" i bought it for its look and its presence on the road and its rareness..... I mean a seee about 10-20 different 300's on the road in a week, whereas i have only seen 2 other GTO's on the road since i have owned it which is 5months. And in that time i have driven from sydney to north queensland and only seen the 2 !!! So please people dont go on about which car is better and that, just appreciate each others cars for wat they are and not wat they're not...
dude dont stress.... seriously, the GTO is a nice car but you already know that.... some people on the forum see the zed through rose colored glasses, but in a real world, there are heaps of nice cars out there.. Cheers
