Seeing as how the current battle is between Sony and Microsoft, I really doubt the Wii is gonna make any major splashes. It really caters to younger kids IMO. And whoever came up with the name should be shot.

Yeah, I don't see any riots happening in america for this console. But then, why would you riot for a PS3.....xbox 360 anytime!

Well, some facts. PS3 is damn overpriced. From what I've seen, you can get a 360 and a Wii or one PS3. And the PS3 is only a little better than the 360 and much harder to develop for as it's CPU is split over the new cell architecture. So it is said that most of the power won't be properly used. John Carmack himself said there is little diff between the two.

The wii doesn't have HD or even SD really, it only has 480p. However it's bonus is it's cheapness. It's also easy to develop for (being on twice as powerful as the Gamecube, means less new tech for developers to worry about). The controller is nice, but the 360 also has, to my knowledge, something similar in the works or already available. It is also fully backwards compatible with every previous nintendo game, all the way back to the SNES or further I believe.

So, after that, I'll probably stick with the 360, the price is right, it offers HD and has an excellent PROVEN online service. And it has Halo3.

    Wii = Next Dreamcast...

...It has a lot of promise, as do all Nintendo consoles. Always the innovators...but the bottom line is they just don't have the money or the power of MS and Sony. And it's sad... :(

They are just too big a marketing powerhouse and Nintendo can't keep up. In the end the mainstream has the say on whether a console is popular or not. Most of the time it's got nothing to do with the console itself.

If it's one thing I've learnt over the years, it's system specs mean stuff all now. The tribe has spoken and it's not due to the fact it can push out 5 billion polygon's per second.

It's always been about the games and always will though. Least for me anyway. It's the reason I bought the Xbox...not because of the hype, because it had the games I wanted to play. The PS has always been bigger popularity wise...but I was never interested in it because I wasn't interested in the games it had on offer.

I hope Nintendo keep afloat though. It would be a shame to see it go under at the hands of the other two simply because it doesn't flaunt itself.

To be honest, I liked it best when it was between Sega and Nintendo.

Piss off Sony and MS, you money hungry bastards!! :)

    Rob out.

Well I've got some part time work for myer over christmas, and I picked up the morning shift for the launch of the Wii...our store had the top 2 most pre-sold systems in the state! I try not to be a fanboy, but I cant wait fort he PS3 ;) But the Wii is DEFINITELY aimed at a younger audience....the thing is, it is still popular with the older age groups as well! The simplicity of the gameplay is what will attract new users! If only people could say the name properly! haha Wii as in wee....not w...i....i...as people keep spelling out to me over the phone or over the counter! lmao

We had the system demoed for us a few weeks ago, and while the interactivity is very neat, the early games looks a little "Average" what Im waiting for is to have a go at Zelda, a proper 3d game, rather than some cheap looking car game that they have for the moment...

PS3 thank you very much, sure its gunna cost 900-1000 but it will be worth it, hell if you want 1 right now you can get one for about $2500 :D . Sony has always had a superior product and superior games, doesnt look like its going to change anytime soon.

    It's seriously pronounced Wee?

God thats even worse than wii/why. There probably isn't a person alive in this world who doesn't think the name is utterly rubbish. Nintendo must have known this and done it on purpose so the name would stick in your head, the same logic behind those really annoying ads, doesn't matter if you hate it, as long as you remember it. I liked it being named the Revolution , it would have been so right for nintendo's next machine. It would have said to people they have evolved and are making a hardcore move to take back their place as the console making kings. anyway thats my thinking

Yeah, its "wee" as in more than one person....community blah blah was Nintendos reasoning! the double "i" also represent the two controllers you need per person to play....the normal "wand" and the "knung chuck"....yeah, i remember laughing pretty hard when i found out the name was for real....but at the end of the day its the same reaons why the new xbox is called "360" its none of this bs about being a full circle revolution yadda yadda, its because if they called it xbox 2 it'd always seem inferrior to a console called playstation 3, as high numbers make people think its better, or newer etc....

    Superior product and superior games

I disagree with that, superior product they certainly don't have. Faulty and not made to last is what I'd call it. My bro is on his third ps2 so far due to them not lasting, my mate is on his third also and I'm on my second. Sony used to have a name for themselves as a high quality product manufacturer, but imo those days are long gone. They make the shi*t to break. Every nintendo I've ever had is still going after much abuse and use, and I've had them all. As for superior games there are only a hand full of decent games that are ps2 exclusive and the rest are available on all systems. Any way Just my opinion :)

Its complex technology, EVERY system is going to have issues! Your friends etc might be on their 3rd ps2's, but I still have my launch PS2! Never had an issue with it! But saying that my sega mega drive stills works as does my old NES ;) Im more worried about the zed breaking down than my 6 yr old PS2 :p

    Launch ps2 still going!

Thats almost unheard of! Your a lucky man. My bro and his mate on their third do use them alot, but the first two to pack it for them were the bulky ones and they havent had probs with the slim line model. I have though. It stopped playing dual layer games and dvd's, got another one on warrenty though, its still in the box! Lost interest lately....
