Hey people, does any1 have any useful information about installing one of these kits? I keep hearing the same 2 things: Must roll guards ???? and Must be professionall installed!? Even though there is no welding or cutting? Any 1 who has done this conversion or knows any more info please help :zlove: Any help appreciated
i think it has to be welded Hi and welcome,im pretty sure there is welding and cutting involved on a zed, which kit do you have,si if its this one it says you need welding skills http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Scissor-Door...7QQihZ015QQcategoryZ36605QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You would do yourself a huge favour to steer well clear of that asswipe on eBay. I bought his instructions out of curiousity, and as a result of the bullshit that was supplied by him, I reported him to eBay. He was forced to refund my money. His advice on Scissor Doors..."Search the wrecking yards to see if you can find bits to do the conversion."
Havn't seen a good conversion. The look is good, but the engineering is shite! had a good look at an S2000 Honda that had been "professionally" done, and the door sag/ lifting the door to close it was a bit crappy
I'm keen on doing the same thing on my car, so I'll keep an eye out on this thread but rough prices would be good to find out too thanx.
The only kits i have seen that look half decent are sites in the US, i always see them and they only go up 60 degrees or something, thee kits are 90 and 130 degree, you must roll the guards if they are in te way of the doors, you can buy specific kits that bolt up to where stock hinges are but i wuldnt trust them
alright, custom auto trim in the US i have heard good things about them and would be where i would go if i was to get them, there are 3 different kits with a number of different options Kit 1 http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/lambo-doors/vertical_doors_products.htm?make=Nissan 80 degree lift, direct bolt on Kit 2 90 or 130 degree lift, made by autoloc, but just a generic kit http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/lambo-doors/standard_lambo_kit.htm Kit 3 90 or 130 degree electric lift, also autoloc, and generic , no pushing required, yeah this is where i would go but very expensive http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/lambo-doors/ready_to_go_total.htm Hope this helps you out, i have not used this company, and dont work for them or recieve funds fromt hem, i heard about them on on of the MTV car shows, not sure if it was pimp my ride or trick it out
The ones i have seen are around $1000 and do not require the guards to be rolled where the door is, they actually open up a little bit like a normal door and then go up so as to clear the front guards, they can be bolted on or welded on and you have to remove the front guards to install them. as far as getting in and out of your car goes tho, i think you would have to go them electric ones which are expensive and would require a fair bit of modification to fit i would reckon.
yeah but i think it would be difficult to get out of the ones that only go up 60-75 degrees, as the door is still in your face, especially for me cos i am a big fellar, so if i was to go lambo doors it would be 80 degree kit minimum, possibly 130, for this sort of mod though you would expect modification
I actually imported a set from scissor-doors.com a few months back cost about $1500 AUD landed but I never fitted them to my car as the track whore bug bit me hard so weight saving was in order so the kit had to go. Shoot Royszx a PM as he bought the kit for his zed. They were being professionally fitted and I never heard back about the end result. The only other one that is any good but costly is the original http://www.lsd-doors.com/indexlsd.html these things are brilliant and actually crash tested and approved for use in North America. Only prob is they dont do one for the 300zx specifically but you can modify one of there universal kits. Price is around $3500 AUD landed but they are the best so you pay for the priviledge. J
