    Hi All

I've got to get a 3 point immobiliser installed in order to get theft insurance (just cars) and I'm leaning towards one of the Brants as I've heard a lot of good things about them.

What I was wondering was does anybody have any bad experiences with immobilisers screwing up. A buddy of mine used to be a mechanic at Suburu and he said they'd always get people coming in with their WRXs towed behind them because the immobiliser had stuffed up and immobilised the car, and this could only be fixed by Suburu.

Is this a common problem for people (Zedders), or am I worried about nothing and I should just go ahead with the install?

    Thanks

I got a Brant and I havnt really had any trouble with it so far, I wouldnt mind getting some more options added to my system, it was in the car when i got it. Do you know if they have a internet site or do you know who is a Brant supplier in Australia?

    Brant are here

    http://www.brant.com.au/

You will get $50 off for saying you are a member of this forum, check my past posts, the AA02/TP3 at http://www.brant.com.au/Content_Common/pg-IMMOBILIZERS.seo

and $348 fully installed at my home saved the car from being stolen, and fully met Shannon's approved alarm criteria for my insurance. :D

AND I can still install another alarm [ with mobile phone chip for remote disable and alert to my phone, and hands free calls in the car] to run the two interior screamer horns, a further 2 immobiliser points , auto window winddown, central locking and remote hatch release !!:D :D :D

    Hey Hen

Yeah I remember reading your post about that attempted theft, it pushed me in the direction of Brant :D
I was just concerned about it screwing up one day and being stuck somewhere with a car that can't be started and needs to be towed to someone who can fix a dodgey immobiliser. Not that I'm saying that Brant are dodgey, but sh!t happens.

Hi mate, you might want to have a look at this unit (Rhino RA) from Rhino

    http://www.rhinosecurity.com/brochures/RABrochure.pdf?PHPSESSID=2a5ec695c94a17b435fb3973a3e19c75

or this one (Rhino JAG) which I have on my car

    http://www.rhinosecurity.com/brochures/JAGBrochure.pdf?PHPSESSID=2a5ec695c94a17b435fb3973a3e19c75

Both can be setup to use with in cabin sirens, tilt sensors, microwave (motion) sensors etc and the RA has a dedicated glass breaking sensor. and are black wired and meet australian insurance requirements. I have an account with Rhino and can supply for you at a VERY competative price, let me know if you're interested in either.

Iv got a remote imobliser and i dont understand it abit. Reallll dodgy, you can switch the car on without using it, but at other times you need to use it.

No worries, browse the website I can get you anything there.

They have a few more bells/whistles type units including GSM alarm, but IMHO the ones I linked to are the best value for money and probably the most "secure" due to being three point rather than two.
