    Cheers, James :zlove: :zlove:

No idea but a lot of Auto owners are converting to Shift at Will rather than converting as it is much cheaper to convert to tiptronic so that may be somehting you would like to consider

    ALOT!$$

I'm am looking into it at the moment, there are alot of bits and pieces to buy and the labour cost will be a killer.
Cost at least ~$3500 all up. As a guide i have seen an auto tranny sell on this forum for about $600.

    Conversion Costs

If you can do it yourself it shouldn be too bad.

    Gearbox 500-800 or so
    Pedals, clutch master from wrecker
Gear knob, stick surround - is this the same as for auto
    New clutch kit
    Flywheel from wrecker
    Driveshaft any different ?
    ECU different ?

Sourcing all the parts from the wrecker apart from the clutch, the cost will mainly depend on your relationship, or buy a half cut and sell off the engine.

I've done it on a 280ZX (had a manual parts car). Not very hard really. Can be done from underneath without taking the engine out

I've also done it on a Jag MK2 - got a kit from Dellows, new driveshaft here. All up around 4K

In neither case could I find anybody to buy the old auto box. I tried to sell the 280 box on ebay for $10 - no takers. Anybody want it - free if picked up.

    carzone in the corner crying!

ive driven a few manual z's with cruise and works fine just as if its a manual. So cruise is not just for auto's, a real small percentage even came out from nissan with cruise and being a manual. If i were u can most likely do some investigations to get it working coz i would, start wit the c/c computer make sure its hooked up and work your way through the tech section, you'll no doubt get it workin mate.

This is done quite a lot in the UK, average labour cost is ?450 and average cost of parts with a new stock clutch is around ?750, covert to aud and gives you a rough idea as parts cost and labour shouldn't be that great a difference between you guys and us.
Oh around 10-13 hours is the norm for labour for everthing.
    cheers

    Dude

Trust me, there are plenty of Z's out there, if you want a manual then just wait for one, coz it'll cost u an absolute fortune to change it, Lazyzed done it recently, might wanna ask him how much it cost! :)

    2nd'd.

A decent quote for manual conversion nowadays seems to be around $5000.

If you want a manual, wait for one. Same with turbos.

ok james ....i did the conversion, heres my breakdown

    gearbox ,pedals,wiring,clutch master,slave and lines....plus other mechanical
    $2000
500hp clutch and chromoly flywheel $1000
    redline oils $100
    installation $1100
so that gives you about $4200 odd
with standard clutch etc would be around abouts $3000 would be my geuss
look for a manual car to start with, but if you cant find the right car then dont be afraid of doing a conversion, its just pricey thats all.....but i have cruise control in my manual(rare),a good short shifter, clutch etc so its worked out to be a good price at the end of the day for me....:D

Im thinking of geting a conversion done as well with in the next year to two years depending how long my auto trans holds up for.

would a full rebuild of the auto trans with stronger internals and shiftkit set me back more then a conversion ?

You might as well get a front cut

or a wreck. Use the gearbox and all associated. Get a new clutch and sell off the rest

agree front cut would help, get all the bits in one hit so to speak

you can build a good auto box for the same sort of money no doubt, and realistically a good auto would be just as quick as a manual, you just gotta decide how important that 3rd pedal is to you....

How common is a MT Transmission ?

Whats the chances of coming across a manual transmission ?

didn't most of the zeds come out auto ? or is there the same amount of auto as manuals ? and to top it off you don't really find as much wrecked zeds as you do of holden and fords and other common cars such as skylines and Subaru's.

but its the price you pay for a beautiful and rare car such as a Zed :zlove: :zlove:
