Well it was the first time and last time I will fill up with BP ultimate. I filled up with BP ultimate and I only got 350km off the tank, and with normal unleaded I get 356km!! What the hell is going on?? I thought your suppose to get more kms outta it I dunno why but my fuel economy has always been crap. When I first got the zed I was getting 130km off a tank (NA, auto, town driving). Then I got a unifilter cause I heard they can increase fuel economy a little bit, that's when I got 156kms off a tank. Then my O2 sensors were screwed...so I replaced both of those at the start of this year..and there was no fuel economy improvement. Anyone got any ideas?? Do you think the new O2 sensors I replaced were faulty?..Cause im confused..
I am hoping that is a typo that you were only getting 130 - 156 to a tank, BP ulimate is supposed to be pretty good for the car i use it on mine, most people say there is a notable performance difference and generally better fuel economy i dont know maybe bad batch or somehting or differnet driving style. Possible causes i suppose could be if you cleaned the connectors where the o2s plug in, other connectrs may need cleaning, air leak somwhere, cAS faults, i would start with a datascan and go fom there
Just had a conversation today about BP ultimate. I think they must be playing funny buggers with there fuel.We always use BP ultimate in the new Maxima and get around 870 to 950 k's per tank , the last 3 refills from BP the best we have had is 610. Now this is a crazy drop in K's so this tank we filled up with Caltex 98 and already over 270 and just used a quarter of a tank. My bet is that they are using lower octane feul and selling it at top dollar
You could be right, my regular car is a mazda 626 (1992) and I use to get 400km+ out of a tank, its a 4 cylinder engine, but i got some problems fixed on the car (radiator, engine mounts, start motor blah blah) and when I got it back i only got 300 out of a tank!! (3/4 normal for those lazy with maths) I thought one of the mechanics had stolen some petrol, but ever since I've only been getting 340ish Back to the topic, I was told that if you go straight from regular unleaded to premium it mixes and you dont get full benefit from the petrol, but after 2-3 tanks you get it 100% premium and you get all the goodies...could be wrong, petrol companies could be playing us for fools and changing the quality of our fuels...hope not! renee think you might have problems then... clearly somethings not quite right with your zed because 350km from a tank in an NA is beyond a joke bad! I've got an aus-spec with over 240k km on the clock & I still clear 550km a tank easy. pretty sure theres a couple tech articles about things to check if you've got bad consumption, I'd suggest you give them a read! Or get someone to do a conzult check or something. What about your o2's??? been replaced since you got the zed? would also suggest getting your injectors ultra-sonically cleaned if you get a chance, I gained about 30-40km's a tank when i had mine done. looking at around $20-$30 an injector. & for the record I normally get a bit extra out of bp, maybe 20k's or something. good luck! cheers, tim.
I just filled my freshly obtained Zed... with a full tank of BP Utlimate. It will be interesting to see what I get to a tank now. Paid 1.60 a litre though! What does it sell for in other states?
130kms a tank are you sure its not a typo, i thonk the record is about 94kms out of a tank and that was a TT around a race track, i dont think the stock NA injectors could flow that much, wer you just revving it and not moving the car
$1.38 last week for me Jono... Dont know what it will be tomorrow.. Will post up when i fill up heheh I am lucky if i tank even gets down to half... most of the time 3/4 on the fuel gauge hehe but this week its close to half a tank left did some running around

You're not leaky petrol are you? when I first got my car I didn't have a fuel cap.... got down to half a tank after about 30-50k's !!! And then a couple of weeks later, the filler neck seal corroded. And it started leaking again!!!!! It leaks out the fuel cap area, when you do a hard right, like going around a roundabout. I got 425.8k's out of a full tank of optimax. I know that number quite well because that's when i had to pull over as i ran out of petrol I tried several fuels, and I get the same economy, 16L for 100k's I remember the first time i tried optimax in the old laser, i got very low k's, was previously using mobil 98 octane premium, and then i switched back to mobil and I got record k's. But I only ever did this once. So if some1 is bored, try full tank of optimax, get it down to 3/4s fill up with mobil 98 and see if economy is through the roof! I use optimax these days cos of the 8c off with the Coles Myer Source Credit card. Was using BP when I first got the car, but they're aren't many bp's around here, and 8c off is too good to refuse. However... i saw an ad today for 5% off BP fuels with a citibank credit card.. so I think i'll do some research on that right now. Unleaded right now is 129.9, 98 octane is usally 10c more these days?
Sometimes we dont get what we pay for Hi people just from my experience.... i have a friend that runs a service station... and when the tanker arrives to fill up the underground tanks.... if there is any unleaded left in the tanker and the underground tank is full they usually drop it in any underground tank that still has room.... so sometimes you might be paying for Hi Octane but infact are getting it mixed with unleaded... i believe this is a common practice...
that stinks .. but am not surprised ... the petrol copanies are just a mob of extortionist gangsters ,, 1.16 a litre for regular unleaded at my servo on the gold coast today, premium u/leaded about 7 cents higher ...
And I thought the 129.9 here in Canberra this morning was starting to look cheap lol. had to do a double take to make sure It has been going down steadily. Seen it at around 148 once Hopefully never again
