    Getting really peaved now.........
    After getting home a bit late and using photoshop to join the electrical diagrams together so I could make some sense of them, I went out and tried to check for continuity between the PTU and the ECU. It was too dark for me to even tell if I was making contact with the pins in the ECU plug, so I put the ECU back in and now the car is running even worse and I'm getting error 21. Looks like a butcher has tapped into some wires in the back of the ECU as some are wrapped in masking tape. I'm going to have to cycle to work and back tomorrow and see if I can do something on Friday (One of the days I had booked off for the Adelaide trip). K-zed, you said there was an error in the manual re the plug and to check plug 114. Is the error the fact that plug 114 is in fact shown as being the number 6 injector wire, when in fact it's the wire to the number 6 input on the PTU?

    AndyMac Better than you

    code 21:

    You may have not plugged the ecu back in properly...tighten that bolt right up. I did this first time I removed the ecu.

    Andy correct, ECU plug probably >>>

    >>> not pushed in firmly at each end.
    Forget FSM error/misprint, Injector to ECU pins as follows:
    1=101
    2=110
    3=103
    4=112
    5=105
    6=114
    ECU wiring loom taped up as you state, it's normal... ex factory, believe it or not.:(

    Correct me again if I'm wrong but I'm getting no spark on number 6 but I can hear the injector firing. So should I be checking the #6 PTU to ECU pin which in the diagram is number 13? BTW......You guys were right re the ECU plug. I just went out and sorted it. Thank you

    Don't forget that your previously new

    spark plug on 6 could now be fouled from weak ignition signal...

    You fix the cause of the original problem, but the original problem might have caused a new problem... very common with ign related faults...

    Sorry...

    I should have posted Ignition unit (PTU) to ECU pins:

    1
    2
    3
    11
    12
    13

    Check the plug for a hair line crack in the ceramic, this will cause misfire at mid RPM due to arcing.

    I just tested for continuity between the PTU and the ECU and it exists. Continuity between the PTU and all the coil connectors also exists. I have swapped the type 2 PTU with a known working type 1 to eliminate that.
    There is still no spark on number 6 cylinder. I have had the coil pack out and tested it with the pug in it and with the plug out of it and a screwdriver in the coil pack as a friend cranks the engine over. I have even swapped coil packs to be certain it's not the coil itself that has failed. Testing the other plugs and coils in the same way gave a good fat spark. I'm wondering what in the hell to try next. Does anyone reasonably close to Kilsyth in Melbourne have a conzult or a datascan? I'll pay you for the fuel to get here. Not sure if it will show anything but I have no better ideas. SMS me on 0404 796 844 if you like and I'll ring you back
