Problems (just for something different!)

Had a weird noise happening when changing back through the gears, and while reversing. Mechanic checked it out today and gave me some pretty bad news.

Firstly, my gearbox mount is stuffed! I need to find a cheap one in good condition ASAP!

Also, there's no grease left in my uni joints so they are stuffed!

And the seals at the back of the diff have seen better days too.

This puts me in a real predicament because I don't know what course of action to take. Does anyone have any idea of how much I'd be looking at to repair all of the above?

I was looking to sell my zed in about 18 months time (to get a family car), but with all this money I might need to spend on it, I wonder if I should just cut my losses now? :(

    Any help/guidance/suggestions/offers greatly appreciated!

you don't need a family car, zed perfect family car

My zed is a family car, got a car seat in the back, (one forum member has seen this), my kid loves driving in it, as for the problems you have,i think it would be the uni, uni's are cheap, fix engine mount,

Not an economical family car though!

The gearbox mount isn't too much of an issue, but the tailshaft is.

The mechanic advised me to replace the whole tailshaft, not just the uni joints?!?!?!

so he wants to do the job,

sounds like he needs some money for his pokie habit, uni's are not that expensive, depends on the center bearing, may take the price up a little. but if its ok then to easy, replacing a tail shaft for no reason is a little silly. i would take it to a few people, to get prices, and see what they say, always pay to shop around....
