This morning, a taxi pulled an illegal U-turn from the opposite side of the road, and almost ran me off the road, so when I recovered, I blasted the horn (for the first time since I've bought the Zed), and it went "Meep-meep"... Does anyone elses horn sound like Herbie?!
one mod that I am proud about on my car..... the previous Jap owner must have thought the same thing..... that the zed horn sounds weak and timid... so he installed a different horn that has more of a deep european sound to it.... I thought it was the normal zed horn until I heard some other zed horns..... Cheers
Mines the same...can hardly hear it when I'm under way with the windows up but then ferrari's horns are pathetic as well...huh? huh?!
Yeah, it was just really timid.. not quite the same as Herbie, but in the heat of wanting to let the taxi driver know he'd almost run me off the road, It didn't quite get the message through.. I'm shaking my arm going, "You dumb-arse, where did you learn to drive?!!" etc.., and all he would have heard was, Meeeeeeeep, meep-meep-meep-meep, Meeeeeeeep!!.... He probably thought he'd cut off a moped scooter!!
You can't beat a nice fat set of triple air horns!!!! :thumbsup: They just about get anything out of your road!! That'll probably be one of my next mods...
Good point Bro! I guess other than fuel consumption (which I'm sure we're all prepared to live with), the standard horn might be the only natural weakness of the Zed?... I still might look into an aftermarket replacement though... maybe something that plays "the Cucaracha"!! LOL

Horn Try and get an electric Klaxton Horn,that gives them a hell of a shock,which they don't expect from a Z. it sounds like a massive old supercharged Bentley up their ass.
Thank God it's not just my car!!! I avoid using my horn, and i really miss it!:LOL: Flashing headlights just doesn't do it for me!! :thumbsdown: none of therage gets released, and no-one notices during day time!!

Yeah the zed horns have... ...a weakness in the design in that the internals are not sealed to the elements and after a while the contacts can either corrode or get full of mud from all the dust and water entering them over the years. Ive replaced mine with a set of PIAA sports horns after finding that replacement OEMs are insanely expensive, and fixing the old ones was not a long term solution. I almost got some air horns but I dont like the lag time most off them have building up enough pressure to make the horns sound.
Re: Yeah the zed horns have... My 260Z plays "Dixie" more comonlly know as the Dukes of Harzard horn!!! Yeah, i have been meaning to do somthing about my horn in the 300, was thinking an air horn running off a 2kg LPG gas bottle.
