I, like probably most of you's have watched (and own) all 6 of the installments.

Lets say if you had a friend who hasn't seen ANY of the Star Wars movies :)o) - but wanted to watch all 6 and to understand the whole story from Jedis to Siths to politics & corruption through to characters origins, etc...

Now the big question, what order should they watch them??

Would you recommend this person watches ep 4,5,6 first then watch ep 1,2,3 to fill in all the blanks like we had to??
Or would you suggest watching them in order from 1,2,3,4,5 then 6 - from start to finish???

I honestly think it had a HUGE impact watching the original trilogy and then the new ones to unveil the story on how things got to that point...

    Good Question

I to am a Stars wars fan. When I watched the first I asked my mum for the first 3.

I still wreckon 4,5,6,1,2,3 because, if one watches 1,2 etc the possibility of feeling let down by the technology of 4,5,6 with F*** it for them. This would do Stars wars no justice and by the beggining of 4 people would lose interest.

Only one opinion to start things off

    I'd suggest 4,5,6 & that's it.

I don't think Ep. 1,2,3 should be linked to the originals

nothing wrong with the 70s tech they used, looks better

and more realistic the way they did it without special effects of today, using real models on black screens, so much more realistic, i thoroughly enjoyed 4, 5, 6, the actors were sooooo much better. i love it.

    Totally!

I agree with both of you. Heaps of classics have spawned from the technology from the first innovative movies! Mafi is right about the ACTING or lack of by digitally produced annimated characters:thumbsdown:.

It still would be cool though if George Lucas had decided to produce on order as he had already written story but not scipt:unsure:

    Nope watch 1-6

although ONE suxs to the max, and SIX with Ewoks :( I loved the death of every one of those fur balls.

The effects aren't as good sure but for the continuity stick to the right order IMO
    Cheers

4,5,6 then 1,2,3... not cause the old tech would be a let down but because

The original 3 are so good that you wouldn't want to spoil it by starting with the first one. Although I got to admit I love them all, the new ep's can't hold a stick to the originals.

I personally even think that if you watch the original three it definitely won't spoil the 3 new ones... if anything you'll enjoy the new ones a little more as you'll probably be more keen to find out exactly how the entire situation came to be.

Most likely you'll have the new "digitally enhanced" versions of the old ones... they made a few alteration like at the end of ep 6 you'll notice that the "new" Anakin appears instead of the original one.

    Agree Sim300. 4,5&6. Forget the rest although i havnt seen 3 yet:unsure:

I have to ad....WTF was lucas thinking when adding that annoying Fking Jar JAr jinks character!
I just cant forgive him for doing that!! It ruined everything. And why no one else pulled him aside and slapped him a few times to snap him out of it amazes me. Thats what happens when you surround yourself with butt kissing yes men and you get too big.

    Just my opinion though.....

What a coincindence. Just finished READING 'Labyrinth of Evil',

which is the Prequel to Ep III. So I was just in the process of sitting down to watch that (Ep3) again.
    Go 1-6 IMO

I think Ep3 is by far the best of the new batch. You MUST see it!!

I was really doubtfull that they'd be able to make Ep3 link all the loose ends from Ep2 to Ep4 - especially with the creation of Darth Vader.

But IMO they really pulled it off, and it paves the way directly onto Ep4. - Even showing the creation of the Death Star.

    My advice....

watch 4, 5, 6 first. Then go back and watch 1,2,3. If you watch it 1,2,3,4,5,6, you'll be dissapointed with Phantom Menace (1) and may not watch the rest :LOL:.... Attack of the clones (2) is better and Revenge of the Sith (3) is awesome..:)

But nothing beats the original 3, so watch 4,5,6 first...

Then go back and watch them in order and see the rise and fall of Darth Vader, which after all, is what the Star Wars movies are all about...

    Cheers

I could argue for both as there would be interesting differences

    in doing so.

Just think how it would be to not know at the start of Episode 1 that Anakin would untimately become Vader or that Palpatine was the Emperor. Would make for intriging plot twists.

Lucas himself says in one of the doco's on Episode III that the story origionally was about the tragedy of Anakin/Vader and that the public opinion made him out to be the 'evil' one, where in Lucas's eyes he wasn't such but rather he was 'seduced by the dark side' via Palpatine's manipulation as we now can see.

But I personally would watch them in 4-5-6-1-2-3 as you can see them in an the order where they don't distort away from what they originally were. How could you forget famous one liners like "Luke, I am your father", whereas if you watch them 1-6 this wouldn't really have the effect it did back when Empire was released.

Having waffled on as such I better go and was another of the saga once again.
