    hey all,

ive got a manual, 1989 TT z32, and everytime i put my foot down and it gets to about 4000rpm i get this shudder feeling coming from what feels like behind the drivers seat (coming from the cargo bay), it cant be the drive shaft because it was balanced etc not long ago, the gearbox was just replaced to, i have an exeddy 5puck brass button racing clutch, so that leaves just the diff i think?? any idea what else it could be? has anyone had this problem before?

    cheers Andrew

I hate to state the obvious but have you had the rear wheels balanced

sometimes they lose a wheel weight which could present symptoms as you described.

Do you have spacers fitted to the rear wheels because they can cause problems if they are of the non centric hub type ?

    Probably centre bearing

If it only happens when accelerating then its the centre bearing. If it happens all the time then could be wheels out of balance.

andrew, that shudder feeling, im willing to bed is axle tramp

loss of traction.. does it happen in every gear at 4000rpm? or just 1st and maybe 2nd?
