As if fixed speed cameras were not making enough money, now they're developed a system to catch cars with "excessive noise" in relation to ambient noise.

Guess you better let the foot off the gas and turn down the stereo when you drive past one of these...

Your all looking at this the wrong way... ;) ;) ;) Fate has an idea :p

How about we park the cars out of sight of the camera, all get out and moon the thing, have someone rev the exhaust to it's full potential and enjoy the show when they put it on the news;)

    Fate...

Think outside the Zed you live in;)

Couldn't I just park there behind the camera with my loud object (exhaust, horn, music) ready to be played, and get tickets sent to all the people who pass by who aren't doing anything???

:p Alright fine, suppose you could park and get others in trouble instead:(

Still think mooning them would be a fun idea though.

Just like showin my ass off i guess.

They've been chasing it for who knows how long. I figure why not just tempt them a little bit more, show them what they can't have ;)

Alright theres been too much talk bout my ass and indecent exposure in the past couple of days.

    NO I'M NOT GAY!!!

Just had to clear that up a little.

    Fate... (Still gonna moon them)

Not really man. There are a couple of guys with commodores etc around here that love driving around setting off car alarms with their exhausts at 4am. If they put the noise detectors on the highways, then i'll have a real issue with them (as im sure drivers of trucks with compression braking systems would ). If they're in residential areas, then as far as im concerned they're really just doing us all a favour and keeping noise pollution down.

This is an absolute joke. What is wrong with the government

these days. They are becoming way too hard to slow enthuiasts down bla bla. This is open for speculation but i know of a few people that have 300's, rotaries, skylines e.t.c that have loudish exhausts. Now the majority of these guys are not stupid drivers but they do enjoy hearing the sound of their car. Thing is, if yur not a menace to society why should you be guilty before proven innocent.

I just think the Governement is pending money where we don't need it.. This will cost millions and it wont decrease the death tolls in Australia. Mearely increase its inbound cashflow which is VERY WRONG. It is being dont at the people expense.

Nice to know our hospitals and schools are suffering because of all the ventures...

    My 2 cents.

Should be real easy to appeal it.

By my understanding, motion noise test must be done at 80kmh with the device positioned a certain distance and taken from a particular angle from the car.(I may be wrong)
How are they going to enforce this on say a double lane carriage way when there may be several vehicles in the same batch.
Sounds like a bit of a joke and a waste of our taxpayers money when we all go to court and win.

I have a feeling theyll take the relevant laws into consideration when positioning the devices. I agree with them in theory, but in practice theyll be a massive cock up, like everything the RTA is involved in seems to be (can anyone say Cross City Tunnel?)

    multiple cars...

It's not too hard to build a directional mic that will tell them exactly which car it was, similar to how the current radar systems can tell which lane a speeding car is in.

I'd also guess that they would be targeting the 'excesive' noise polution rather than those who are only just over the limit.

Still it's a step in the wrong direction IMHO.

Correct me if I am wrong but....

It seemed to me like the website was american...

Hence the washington quote, it didn't say that australia was buying them, and even if they do buy them they would have to be signposted as the speed cameras are, whihc would make them even more pointless and easier to evade than all other automated money stealing devices the government currently uses:thumbsdown:
