I am interested in polishing my Z32 rims.
    Has anyone done this?
    Has anyone got pics?
What am I likely to pay?
    Anyone recommend somewhere in Perth?

My N/A has these, but 1 rim cracked before Gilgandra so I got another and

had it separately polished. So that was about 2 years ago.

Cost me a bomb at the time - $250.

It was a top job though - even the L or R had gone and the other rims seemed dull in comparison. I had them touched up/reshined at $50 ea. So, in my case, for $400 I had 4 very nice rims.

This was all done in the ACT where there was only 1 place I could go to. I reckon that, with competition, you could get all 4 done from scratch for about $100 per rim.

I can post a heap more pics if you want. These were taken about 15 months ago.

Anyway, I'm happy with the outcome. Cheers, Peter

    Thanks for the pics

I think they look great, did you stick with the standard centre caps or did you replace them? I know Courtesy sell chrome look centre caps..

    Standard Z centre caps.

The standard caps actually look very good with the highly polished rims.

Initially, I didn't realise these were the standard caps. I personally wouldn't buy the other caps in anticipation. See what you think first.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    More polished Z32 wheels ...

I didn't get these polished myself, bought them through the forum classifieds. You will note there are no centre caps - I decided to go for the chromed ones from USA (not ordered yet!!), but have sold the painted stock centres.

dont want to hijack post but...

what do you people with hot CHROME finished rimms use to clean your shiny rims? And how do you get that grime and excess brake dust of the rimms? ;/

    Polishing Standard Z Wheels

Having been a Norton Motorcycle fan for many years, I have done all my own polishing of the alloy parts on them.

I do not see why an owner of a Z could not polish their own wheels. All you need is a good size grinder with a polishing mop on it & the right compound polish.

In Brisbane, these items are available from "Trade Tools". No doubt you can purchase them from Glenfords & other tool outlets around the country.

An 8" grinder is better than the 6" grinder, this is a case of bigger is better ;).

If I can find a good Z, I will certainly be polishing my own wheels. You can aslo buy an attachment that fits into a normal drill to bring up the "mirror finish". I think the polished alloy looks great personally.
