Hey all, was inspired by Zzz's AE86, i thought i mite ask the question to you all about what you have as ur Daily Driver!

I have an 85 Honda Prelude, bought it recently as a replacement for my buggered 92 excel running on 3 cylinders!
It has a bit more bite than than the sexcel and handles well, but still it has nothing on the zed!

Interested to know about the rest of you! :zlove:

Poor thing only gets washed with the 1/4 bucket of dregs that are left after washing the 300. Geez it must hate the Zed

    A 1982 Orange MitsubishiSigma

with 310,000+km on the clock. Ugly as, but doesnt burn any oil, and only used to have a small oil leak from the front main seal which now seems to have stopped. Poor thing only gets washed about once a year, its covered in cobwebs and has a fair amount of rust (find me a sigma which doesnt) along with faded multicolor panels. Have had it for nearly 8-9 years and it has been super reliable, more so than the zed... it just refuses to die.

Unfortuneatly, getting married in November this year and have already had strict instructions that sigma wont be migrating to the new house (fiance doesnt see the need to have three cars in the family, not yet anyway). So my bro-in-law will either take it or it will go rest at the wreckers....

    Cheers

The paint (not done by me) was a backyard job of orange acrylic. (even has a rice black bonnet :p) The times I have washed the car my towels that are used to dry it end up orange (or black from the bonnet). It has also crows footed most places (nice texture effect :) )

For $5 I bought a can of vinyl paint and repsrayed the dash from poo brown to bright red. Looks a little better, even with overspray hehe

being a 3 cylinder 1 litre engine, it is very slow and unless you are in 3rd gear, you wont maintain 80km/h+ up the slightest of hills :) On the highway its pretty much flat foot all the way to stay at 110!! :)

Still, if I floor it at the lights I still beat some people that aint trying

Nice to have a contrast of cars. This car must only be 20-30kw (not dynoed but I doubt it would be much higher), and well the other one, quite a difference :):zlove:

1998 Holden Vectra that I bought brand new.

Full import model from Europe, is a 2 lt with 'traction control' lol, both the crank angle and cam angle sensors had to be replaced, at my expence , the timing belt snapped at 60 k, was meant to be replaced at 70 k, had to rebuild head at my expence ,Holden just passed the buck, car is nice to drive but I will never buy a new car ever again.

It is a seriously understated car. All electric options, nice interior and plenty of space. It is also pretty quick. The manuals can get up to 100kms in about 7.5-7.8secs which is getting into NA 300ZX territory!
The number of cars you embarrass, including 5L V8's, R33 GTS's etc, is quite remarkable. I have lots of fun driving it although now it is showing its age.
Only yesterday I had the water pump replaces and a number of other issues were identified. I think it might be time to let it go.

    My Poor Z :(

Yep barely enough coin in my pocket for the Z, let alone the costs of maintaining another (lesser) car...and that includes the daily trips to the Gong for uni

Actually i was thinking of getting my moto licence and buying an Aprilia RS125:cool:

Till then my poor Z will be driven every day (as it should be):zlove:

Shifter, I feel your pain fella!

Got some Pedders sports riders and SPAX springs, 15inch alloys, whole new interior that I did with black polar fleece.

Soon I'm going to do my own exhaust mods.

These cars are sooo easy to look after and a joy to work with. Soooo simple and very very cheap to run.

Oh yeah, my charade has mods :)

Brand new full exhaust system (to replace the rattly old one with holes) for $360ish fitted. (a tad larger than the stock system) Headers for these cars cost about another $360 installed, but will not be wasting money on those. Hehe my zed from the manifolds back (installed) runs way in the thousands :) I love the zed. :zlove:

I had to remove the window tint (was very black and had silver flame stickers on the side windows). I can't have a car without window tint (I sunburn easy) so I replaced it all with as dark as could legally go.

    Chrome looking hub caps!!! :p

The guy who owned it before me polished the rocker cover. Looks very bling

Had to replace the front tyres, Woohoo could get 'em for $39 each!!!

Its good on fuel, can get 500km to a tank (35litres). However when I thrashed the car (flat foot and redline) My economy was better?? Only just got it last month so will try a number of times of babying it and thrashing it to see if there's a difference.

Good to have a 'daily driver' as it saves the zed from annoying peak hour traffic jams, should save some on insurance for driving it less, also maintenance things like tyres, brakes etc don't have to be changed as often.

    I have two.........>>

I used to drive the zed as my DD, but stopped about 4 years back. Since then I've had a few other cars, but I currently have two DDs.

The first one is now more Jen's then mine, and that was the red 180 that was sitting on the nature strip at the last tech day. The other one which I've only had since Tuesday is a nice peice of work. Nissan, 3ltr with a single turbo and 17" wheels.

I'll post some photos of each in the next couple of days.
